Fun Movie - for when you're bored
29 December 2023
This movie looked like fun from the trailer and it proved out to be a lot of fun. The actors were relaxed and personable. The story was pretty much straightforward although there were parts of the storyline that were never brought to fruition. At the end of the movie, I had a lot of unanswered questions including what happened to Jimmy? Did he die? Was he tied up somewhere? Also, what happened to the protagonist at the end of the story? I wanted closure - had there been closure, The Retirement Plan would have been a fun way to pass time. As it turned out, even though it was mostly fun and ridiculous, I'm disappointed overall.

Lively tributes turned disappointing
29 December 2023
I loved teh tribute to Queen Latifah - it was brilliant! Amazing! And perfect! I don't recall such a vibrant tribute as the one for the Queen. Thank you, Kennedy Center! Also, Dionne Warwick's tribute was a perfect tribute and a good reminder of her history and contribution to music. Cynthia Erivo's rendition of Alfie brought me to tears. Sadly the tribute for Barry Gibb was a disappointment for me as I have loved the Bee Gees all my life. The musical tributes sounded like lounge music - no life to them. The producer for Mr. Gibb's tribute seemed not to know his music at all, otherwise it would have been alive and presented by artists who know him. The best part of the tribute was his son's touching words.

Terrible movie, beautiful location
27 December 2023
My husband and I chose this movie as a Saturday treat. We left around the halfway mark because I kept hoping that it would improve - a waste of time & our weekly movie budget. The actors were given dialog that was juvenile and scene set-ups that were embarrassing. Lots of gratitious nudity and shots of partial nudity. Anyone interested in seeing this movie should just watch the trailer - it gives viewers a good picture of what they'll see at the theater so they don't waste their time sitting through a really bad movie. It was great seeing Bryan Brown but I wish he had chosen a better vehicle in which to appear than this dreck. I had greater expections for Glen Powell, but then maybe this is the level of his actual talent. Sad.

Poor Character Development-Here for Godzilla Only
10 December 2023
We would not have stayed with this series without Godzilla and the other monsters. They are the best reason to watch this show. The female characters are offensive and bratty, and the adult characters and formulaic and mostly unpleasant. Godzilla has been a favorite for my husband since he was a boy and he's seen almost all iterations of his favorite character. This is among the worst. We will probably stick with it until the end but we may not be able to. There is usally only a few minutes that show the monsters in each episode - the rest of the time we are subject to an this dreck. It's amazing that it has such a high rating on IMDB.

Hoffman & DeNiro & excellent story
16 May 2023
I just watched this movie again (5/2023) and it still stands up after more than 25 years. The script is smart and the dialog rapid fire. If you're watching for the first time, you'll need to pay close attention or you'll miss some amazing dialog. The inclusion of Willie Nelson, Denis Leary, and Woody Harrelson bring great characters that enhance the story - plus giving us some cool music (Merle Haggard, as well). In today's strange world of politics, I sometimes wonder if we're being played by the media and it seems possible as well as most absolute. I highly recommend this movie to you if you're looking for smart entertainment.

This was a lifeless and disappointing movie
18 February 2023
We were disappointed from the beginning of the film. The dialog was stilted and awkward. As the movie progressed, the plot was murky and the characters undeveloped. The best part for me was the arrival of Colm Meaney's character - he absolutely brought life and color to an otherwise dull and lifeless film. A total waste of an excellent cast. Withint the first ten minutes, we considered leaving but decided to stick with it. I fell asleep after 20 minutes and woke up in time to enjoy Meaney's performance. Also, the actor playing Cedric did a great job and I look forward to seeing more of him in the future. I recommend that if you're looking for a movie to watch, give this one a pass. Not the Marlowe that I was looking for.

Great Saturday movie!
22 October 2022
I loved Black Adam even with the few usual challenges. The beginning is a little formulaic and there are a couple of characters that weren't really necessary for the story. Dr. Fate & the hawkman were solid although I wish that Dr. Fate had been better developed and that his friendship with the hawkman was better explained. The villain was fabulous! I hope that we see more of Black Adam in the future. As a side note, The Amanda Waller character is almost a meme. And it was nice to see Sarah Shahi in this movie - she's great. Her character had some of the best dialog and it made the most sense in context with the bad guys.

My guilty pleasure movie
30 August 2022
I have watched this movie many times (usually when my hub is at work, lol) and I never tire of it. It has humor, aching heartbreak, and joy. The dynamic between Kate Winslet and Jack Black is one of the reasons that I enjoy it so much - they have the best chemistry - Jack Black is a surprisingly lovely and romantic leading man. Of course, veteran actress, Kate Winslet is always perfect. The inclusion of Eli Wallach adds depth to the story and gives me another reason to love this movie. Iris opened up a new family for Amanda to come home to, assuming she does come back to LA after finding love in England. Sweet story. And a nice score.

How many cliches can you pack into a B-movie?
29 August 2022
We tuned in to this movie to waste time before bed - it looked like a fun way to kill some time. It has Xander Berkeley and George Sheffey both whom are known character actors to give it some cachet, along with the female actor that was in a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger movie (Amy Jo Johnson). It also has a Dr. Evil character. We were not disappointed - it really is funny and ridiculous and a goodtime-waster. The characters are cliche and the CGI is terrible but then it is a b-movie so those elements are to be expected. I guess we'll never know how it turned out since its time for bed now. I recommend that this movie be be viewed with good humor.

Sometimes maddening
2 August 2022
I've watched every episode but dang, the busy bodies and unpleasant characters have made it difficult at times. Mel is such a negative and entitled character - she drives me nuts.

I love this movie
23 May 2022
This movie makes make smile and occasionally almost brings a tear. I love it. Richard Gere's John Clark is sensitive to everything and everyone around him. To find something to call his own in dancing is so sweet and heartbreakig. I love watching J-lo dance, Stanley Tucci is his usual amazing self, and all of the support cast is brilliant.

Solid Series
25 April 2022
We stumbled on this series on Hulu. It has a great cast throughout the four seasons (which we watched in about 2 weeks). Some of the violence depicted was intense so viewers should be aware. Each series had excellent casts and gripping storylines.

Interesting Mini-Series
20 January 2022
This series caught our interest right away in spite of the interpersonal drama between characters. It ended abruptly after 5 episodes and we wondered if it was supposed to be picked up for another season. I was disappoined in the drama queen behavior of DI Flint & DS Holt. The storylines were compelling though and made up for the weaknesses.

What did we just watch?
30 November 2021
We just finished this series and have no idea what we just saw. It was a mystery at the end. I found Astrid, the protagonist (I think), to be irritating although she must have been written that way for a reason. That is probably one of the reasons this series has been compared to Midsommar. Midsommar made sense though.

Underwhelmed
25 November 2021
The first two episodes are disappointing not only in the cliche storyline but also with Ms Steinfeld's performance. I expected much better from both. As usual, Jeremy Renner turns in a good performance and supporting cast does a good job overall. I'm still excited by the series and look forward to changing my opinion in future episodes.

Would have been better with a different actress
13 September 2021
I really like the idea of this movie but wish that a different actress had been used, as well as a different actor for Charley. The rest of the cast was great.

Great writing & cast!
14 August 2021
I'm sad that there are only 6 episodes of this program. It is original with a really nice cast and compelling stories. Bill is an American hired to oversee an English police department. The officers are not happy to have to answer to an American but they seemingly do their jobs. I really like Rob Lowe's portrayal of Bill as an efficient leader. I also am impressed with DC Yeardsley - she is clever and determined. This series is too short.

Irritating
27 May 2021
We watched the first episode of My Life is Murder hoping for another good series to watch after completing Brokenwood series which was awesome. Sadly, My Life is Murder was disappointing with the protagonist being flippant and lying came too easy to her. The assistant came across as unprofessional and too familiar with her "boss". Hopefully the series gets better as it goes, but one episode was enough for me.
