Shadow and Bone (2021)
I liked it
As a fan of the books I still enjoyed every minute of this series. It's perfectly cast and I personally loved the second season too (even if the first may have been better). I think that the grisha world is depicted just as it is described in the books, won't even start on Ketterdam because that's how good it is.
Yes, this show lacks originality when it comes to the main plot and characters (it's kind of predictable) but I find it balances that well with the delight of seeing the crows in action, along with Nikolai, Tolya and Tamar (I can't get enough of them). I found myself cheering for them out loud.
At first I thought the effects were a little strange but seeing they got nominated for some award, I guess it just depends on every one's taste.
Let me once again praise the people in charge with casting for finding these amazing actors (they are the book characters in the real world, except for Ben Barnes, but I'm not complaining).
Rush Hour (1998)
Would watch it again
You know a movie isn't for you when you start checking how much of it is left every 10 minutes.
This movie had me entertained and I simply enjoyed it, never got bored. Rush Hour is great because not only I loved it, but my brother who doesn't watch neither movies or series came to see what I'm doing and stayed for the entire thing.
No but seriously, I'm wondering why haven't I seen this classic until now.
I absolutely love and respect Jackie Chan. It's the first time I see Chris Tucker in a movie but I got to say, he played the hell out of his character. Also, these guys had some great chemistry!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013)
My comfort show
Where do I start? I know this kind of shows are somehow up to subjective criticism because not everyone can enjoy the same type of humour, but let me just say... I recommend this one to every friend I have. Out of all the so-called sitcoms out there, Brooklyn 99 takes the prize for being exactly what you want to watch after a long day: fun, relaxing, kind of family friendly and most importantly, not forced. I rewatched it three times over the years and some of the episodes are gold. Situations are natural, and I find the characters likable (even though there's Gina, who is annoying, I admit, but I find her funny even so).
Miseuteo Shunshain (2018)
A masterpiece
I have to admit that I'm pretty picky when it comes to movies and series. And thus it's hard for me to really enjoy watching some series from start to finish. I usually drop them, depending on how good they are, either after the first episodes or when I get to the middle part.
Well, let me tell you, this one had me hooked for the whole time. And let's be honest, we couldn't expect less from the writer, that man's worked on some successful dramas before.
So if you're picky like me, I advise you to give a chance to this drama: just don't judge it after the first episode, the fun begins after that, trust me.
I won't say more, it has the best aesthetics, the characters are- not just lovable but complex, it has some quality bromance too.
Takin' Over the Asylum (1994)
Truly touching
I watched this 28 years after it was released and I felt like it's one of those rare masterpieces that will never lose their value. Because it's not about special effects, or a fantastic story that can be topped any day by an other, it's about us humans and it portrays us perfectly.
I admit that I wouldn't have seen it if it weren't for David Tennant and that I ended up having Campbell Bain (his character) as a role model, but (and this is a "but" you read with long "u") I can say from all my heart that I loved the whole show. It simply made me genuinely laugh, then broke my heart to little pieces in a second and, before I could realize, it became the most realistic depiction of life itself - happy moments and sad moments, some people find their way in life and some struggle endlessly, and in the end... life is still a paradox: it doesn't get better nor worse, it's just the same, even though everything changed if you look back to the beginning.
