The Princess (2022)
Great summary of her life, especially for younger viewers who might not remember her life and death
Solid documentary that doesn't shy away from all of the opinions about Diana and the monarchy. No narrator or interviews, instead just a collection of interesting news clips and found footage that helps portray her life. Well edited, engaging, and interesting. I was 13 when she died, and this film helped me to understand why everyone was so devastated by the loss. Good companion piece to 'the crown' and 'the queen'.
The Rehearsal: Scion (2022)
Probably the cringiest (but hilarious) thing I've seen since the office (UK)
I literally had to pause it every few minutes because I couldn't take how awkward it was.. which I understand it was the point. I hope the HBO executives know this was money well spent. Well done Nathan.
Euphoria: Ruminations: Big and Little Bullys (2022)
My favourite opening sequence yet
Maybe it's just because I'm a bit older and went to high school in the 90s, but having that nostalgic soundtrack coupled with the wildness/ freedom of youth, with the same visual style and editing of modern day euphoria made it really hit home. Although Cal is obviously supposed to be the villain of the series, giving him a sympathetic backstory like this shows how multidimensional to serious really is... Well done to everyone involved.
Station Eleven (2021)
People complaining about how this is too sporadic or weird need to read the book first!
It seems lots of people are giving this one star review after watching one episode, and are frustrated with the dialogue, pace, and apparently random scenes. I bet they would've felt the same about the first episode of HBO's the watchmen if they hadn't known the style of the graphic novel. Same deal with this, give it a chance first, because the book was excellent, and the series is trying to be as faithful to the book as possible... so far, Super intriguing!
