Man of Steel (2013)
Disjointed, Fractured with glimpses of pure Brilliance
After reading a number of "RAVE" reviews about this movie I was mystified, I honestly believe i was watching a different version of "Man of Steel". That being said whoever is reading this must be asking themselves "Really there is another version?", no there isn't so how did i come to this state of confusion? let me explain.......
Its hard to know where to begin with this movie, firstly Russell Crowe is outstanding as supermans father and the action scenes totally blow your mind and that's about where it ends for me. Perhaps Zack Snyder should have taken a page out of Christopher Nolans (Batman Begins) book on how to reboot a franchise? "Man of Steel" is disjointed and fractured, you don't get time to feel anything for superman as there isn't time to get to know what he is all about. In my own opinion there is far too much information crammed into to short a time-frame, if you know nothing about superman then this movie will be fantastic for you.
The worst part of this movie for me is the total lack of interaction between Clark Kent and Lois Lane, it is one of the fundamental building blocks of supermans story.
"Man of Steel" disjointed, fractured, confusing, compressed, unemotional, frustrating, lacklustre with glimpses of pure brilliance.
If you want to see great super hero movies try the rebooted batman franchise or the Avengers series.
Lung foo moon (2006)
Now this is A Martial Arts Film
Since i was a youngster i have always been fascinated with martial arts films and this is one of the best martial arts films you will ever see.
If you enjoyed Kung Fu Hustle then you will have an absolute ball with this film. You will be treated to some of the most mesmerising fight scenes you will ever see, and the best rope work in any martial arts film out at the moment.
The story is fairly good, not great but to be honest it wasn't the main focus. This film also reminded me of another called "A man called Hero" which focused on the struggling hero with great ability and guilt fighting evil, which is the main story running through this film.
If you are into great martial arts films do not miss this opportunity you will not be disappointed.
Disturbia (2007)
How this movie rated so high is beyond me
I saw the rating of this movie here and thought i was in for a great ride, only to be extremely disappointed, the whole premise of this movie just makes no sense whatsoever. It starts great, lots of suspense and a very believable storyline. After the halfway point however this entire movie turns into one cliché after another which is very frustrating.
It seems that the entire second half was just a rush to the finish with no regard for the viewer. The acting was fairly average however they just seemed happy to be in a movie which was the impression i got.
All in all not as great a movie as rated here in IMDb, though can take up the time if you have nothing else to watch on the weekend.
Murder-Set-Pieces (2004)
what a load of garbage
I had the unfortunate chance to see this film with a friend last night and feel totally ripped off, maybe i can get palumbo to give me back the time i wasted watching this so called movie. Being a fan of the gore, horror, serial killer genre I was prepared for a great ride, however this was not the case. The entire "movie" seemed like a ride in Nick Palumbo's own ego, it made no sense whatsoever, For example the child murder scene is totally off character for this so-called serial murderer, it seems to be just there to get shock value for the movie, it has no basis for this killer. The whole movie was overall just a total waste of time, the direction was choppy and there seemed to be no rhythm at all to the whole plot. The acting i have to say was absolutely horrible, and the use of 35mm also seemed like another ego trip, to be honest that was impression of this film, just one long ego trip for so called director Nick Palumbo.
I went so far as looking up this director to make sure i never see any other movie made by this fool, for the sake of horror enthusiasts the world over i hope no more movies are made by Nick Palumbo.
The Marsh (2006)
this movie oozes cliché and unoriginality
Firstly when you see a ghost common sense dictates you get the hell out of the house, why would you stay in the house seriously, this movies suffers terribly from cliché, it becomes so much of a problem that it actually becomes quite funny.
The acting is extremely under par, the story done 100 times before with much better results, and the effects were lacking which also describes the story.
The director seems to have taken the scripts from every other done to death horror in this particular type (old house, child, etc, etc) and then kind of mashed it all together hoping for the best and coming up with the worst. To be honest some type of registry with the names of these terrible directors should be posted on the net so that myself and others will no longer have to be tortured by their vile trash that they try to pass off as movies.
well to end this, stay away from this movie and thank me later.
Blades of Glory (2007)
not as funny as i thought it would be :(
Well a pretty cliché movie, was really looking forward to watching it and felt totally let down by ferrel. His acting seemed sub par and to be honest the whole movie just felt totally wrong.
The movie was very cliché, much of it seemed ripped straight from the movie "Zoolander" now that is a funny movie. Don't get me wrong there are a few really funny scenes and many that will make you cringe but overall the was for me below average and didn't quite pull it off.
This movie just seemed like ferrel tried to hard, and the entire movie seemed like he was trying to boost his own ego. My only recommendation is to wait for this movie to come out as a rental and save yourself some money.
