Silent Night (2021)
Arrived without fanfare - it's a corker
I had seen no publicity for this film, but gave it a watch due to the cracking casting. Not much can be said without spoilers, but the cast act their hearts out. Excellent story and great ending.
Encounter (2021)
A huge disappointment
Ruiz Ahmed is a very fine actor. In fact all the acting was great in this. The problem is the film itself. Formulaic and with a plot line that you can see coming a mile off. There's nothing new or exciting about this. I was half expecting a plot twist at the end to redeem it, but no, nothing to redeem itself. I wish I hadn't wasted my time watching this.
Westworld (2016)
An unmissable series
I was late to the party with this show. After a stuttering start over a period of time, I watched past episode 1 (I generally can't stand anything western related), I was totally engrossed a few episodes in. It must be noted that the theme tune is one of the best out there and so well suited to the show. Season 1 builds to a great finale, season 2 builds upon this with a cracking ending. I approached season 3 with an open mind after hearing mixed reviews, I'm glad I did as it continues the story in spectacular fashion.
The casting is superb, the production values incredible and the story is very well paced. Bring on season 4!
Two Weeks to Live (2020)
Greatly anticipated. It didn't disappoint.
Having watched the trailer shortly after lockdown in the U.K. I was delighted to find the whole series ready to view today. We binged the lot in one sitting. Funny (a brilliant nod to GoT In episode 2), an easy watch and fantastically entertaining. A bit obvious throughout but non the worse for this. It has a bit of a 'Wrong Mans' vibe to it. Roll on series 2.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
A fitting end of the series
This was a very fitting end to the main series of films and a huge nod to the original 1977 Star Wars in feel. Beautifully constructed with excellent closure. I can't think of a better way they could have finished this.
Marriage Story (2019)
Giving up after 29 minutes.
I thought this might be good, BUT, good grief, a film about a self obsessed actress who is no longer the centre of attention? Seriously?? A derisible, disgraceful film.
Lee and Dean (2017)
Refreshing and hilarious
This came out of nowhere and makes for compulsive viewing. The characters are so well written. This deserves to become a classic.
