Oppenheimer (2023)
Solid 8 but not for everyone to understand
This movie is like solid 8 but really not easy to understand. There are several layers like politics, moral, family, history, science and if you want to get the full experience you might need to be like 60-70 years old professor from US who has vivid interest in politics and is really open-minded. Seriously, I was prepared although not falling into this category but most of the audience I think did not understand a lot as they were too young and politically fragile. And that is not even touching the morals of the story or ancient history mentioned briefly. Or consequences for the Japanese that were so terrible. Go there, watch and come back to this movie in 10-15 years again if you are under 45.
The Twilight Zone (1959)
Real pleasure, extremely good show
I only put 9 to this show because it is a bit dated and it cannot compete with modern cinematography but it has all the originality and best of screenwriting to remain a masterpiece in the course of time. Among the more common ideas most episodes are really inventive and original and the endings often unexpected which brings even more satisfaction to the viewer. If you love old cinema, good writing, fantasy, sci fi and mystery you must see the series and enjoy all the storytelling they present to a tempted connoisseur. I wonder how one man came up with so many ideas but I guess he got a lot of help and ideas from others.
RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) (2022)
Tarantino should be jelous
Absolutely most amazing and amusing Indian movie I have seen. It has so much elements in it that you probably need to see it couple of times and you will still miss some. Action, super heroes, love, fight, revolution, evil empire and devoted friends, Nazi style colonialist English, impossible stunts and all mixed up with some dancing and singing of course. The story is unwinding with elements of mystery and latin telenovela and there is almost no head bobbling (proverbial in Indian movies) through the entire movie which must have been very hard. As a negative I think the voices of some of the English guys are quite weak and out of place and CGI is artificial for some animals sometimes.
The Menu (2022)
Such a promising idea and....such a disappointment
Such a promising idea and....such a disappointment. This movie had a very promising beginning and plot that I expected really a lot of action and grim nuances but unfortunately it turned out to be generally disappointing and unoriginal in the middle of the story. Ending was lets say ... quite OK but I expected a lot more. Acting was quite good, it was set up in a nice place, expectation was there but development missed by long shot what it must have been. Some elements were illogical and unrelated but this is a minor failure compared to the core of of the story that got carried away by meaningless development.
Botev (2022)
The director is a disgrace
This director has to be forbidden by law to make history movies as he has done so much harm already that everyone is talking about his movies in negative aspect. It is really worthless to talk about actors or anything else but the whole atmosphere and historic relevance are close to zero and are a disgrace for such glorified heroes as Botev or as was the case before - Levski. We want to know really where the funding for this movie comes from and why the president's daughter has a role and many other things. The movies has brought a storm of complains and rightfully, I believe this guy should be forbidden to make and cast over public television his movies about Bulgarian history as he is a disgrace.
Uyut (2019)
Highlights some real features of society in Bulgaria
Not a bad movie, there are some typical representations of the Bulgarian reality and common characters of everyday life. My favorite sentence was that "Ministry of culture is only scratching their balls instead of doing something meaningful." Unfortunately it is not only this ministry. Donev is one of the most popular theatrical actors, connected to Bulgarian folklore and dancing, unfortunately the movie does not show this a lot but still we have elements and traditional dancing and music worth seeing and hearing. Everyday heroes of down to earth life filled with drinking and reckless behavior get a good representation alongside some deeper thoughts that crawl among the idiotic atmosphere of modern society.
No Time to Die (2021)
No time to watch
Too long and boring. The idea should be not how to make longer movies but better. The retirement version of Bond - wife, kid, no chicks aside, saving the world and going away in glory and light....
The Perfect Weapon (1991)
Screenplay is stupid but otherwise watchable 09s flick :)
So screenplay is extremely stupid but has a decent quality compared to other flicks from that time. You cab watch if you feel nostalgic :)
I Care a Lot (2020)
Totally disconnected from reality
Totally disappointing. Good start and then turned into stupid fantasy. Totally disconnected from real world.
