Smile (2022)
Made me Smile
I won't add a synopsis here as you can read that tagged to the title easy enough.
The film uses scares well but jumps can be a little predictable, but.... That said, they are spaced and paced well, with use of the whole of the screen reminding me a little of It Follows. The film starts fairly slow and builds nicely.
The music is good too and the overall gore builds continuously toward the end. I was expecting another film on the formula of the likes of countdown but was pleasantly surprised with the way it went
Overall if you like It Follows and Sinister this will probably hit the right notes.
Firestarter (2022)
How to avoid all potential in a film!
Forget the book for a moment........ this concept has so much potential - a girl develops her abilities as the film goes....... She should have been near nuclear by the end, but no, we get a flame thrower with 1980s music score
Under whelming
Under acted
Under directed
Under water.
Swagger (2021)
Good - but Too much Woke don't keep me Awake
This show could be so so good but it centres too much on race and political correctness
Show life as it is, not how you think we want to see it.
The main theme of the show gets lost through the arrogance of the hero of the show.......the plot is up and down like a kettle being put on and took off the boil time and time again, as the script writers struggle to amass every issue and cliche like a soap opera that just happens to play basketball
All that said I really do enjoy the show and I feel invested in the shows characters.
The Little Things (2021)
It's definitely the little things
Minor spoilers
The little things in this movie are what allow a killer to be caught, but in reality it's the little things that make a movie great, mediocre or bad....... I believe this was a distinctly average movie.
The wealth of talent on offer in this film was overwhelming, but somehow the film stuttered along like a rusted car. Leto was excellent and gave the film an edge but Rami Malek was horribly miscast....... his presence was that of a weak kitten trying to portray a seasoned detective; it's down to 'the little things' - at one point he held a gun like an 80 year old woman. His performance was dialled in and offered little support to Washington whose performance was solid (as usual)
All in all the film didn't provide anything to the viewer, apart from an insight and expose on frustration
A Werewolf in England (2020)
Just WOW - it's that bad
Never mind any excuses about it being old school blah blah blah
Zero script
Abominable acting
Horrific sequences
When I 1st saw the werewolves I thought I was being pranked - they look like their dancing
The writer/director should be embarrassed
