I'm not usually a fan of war based movies but the suspense throughout the key scenes in this had me hooked. The opening section had me glued to the screen and that stayed the case for the remainder. It's a pretty straightforward storyline but this didn't detract from the enjoyment and I'd highly recommend watching.

It's pretty easy to see where the storyline is going from the outset but it remains an enjoyable story with plenty of smiling throughout and entertaining moments. An easy going film which I've been able to watch a few times now and still enjoy, so it must be doing something right!

I really struggle with all the reviews saying what a great film this is. I found it incredibly slow throughout, with terrible acting and a story which was hardly gripping. None of that is helped either by the sheer length of the film, it just gone on and on and on. Okay it's almost seventy years old so I'll give it some slack but I clearly missed a hidden plot, because it was wasted on me!
