Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2018)
I don't know how to feel...
There are alot of aspects i like...and I lot I don't. The diversity of the main cast is pretty great. But now they're not even biological brothers! There all different types of turtles. I feel like that decreases the family bond. But I still had hope for this show. I was so excited to see Master Splinter and what he would look like. He has always been one of my favorite characters. Then came time for his first appearance. Man did I get my hopes up! The writers got lazy! By making him lazy! My jaw dropped to the floor. They ruined him! Master Splinter has never been just some old rat man! He's the boys Sensei, Master, and above all their father. Now he's some fat rat dude that watches TV all day long. That just really doesn't sit well with me. Also Raphael is the leader now? Interesting. Especially because in the last show Leonardo had a ton of character development involved with being the leader. And so did Raph because he learned and grew from not being the leader. I mean for all I know Leo and Raph flipped a coin over it and that's that. But I mean the Leo in this version doesn't really seem like leader material anyways. Also I feel like they bumped down the Mikey goofiness and evenly distributed it among all four of them. And for some reason this show makes me forget about Mikey. I don't know if this is the same for everyone but I'd be watching and then see Mikey and I'm like "Oh you're here too? Cool" I do like a few other things though. Like the new villains. That was very refreshing. The art and animation style is pretty cool. I wouldn't call it simplistic thats for sure. And the colors are very fun and vibrant. All and all it's ok i guess. If you're new to the fandom. Go for it...but if you're not...just lower your expectations before watching it. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. 5 out of 10. Splinters a bum. Who's Michaelangelo again? Uhh Turtle Power? #DonniesStaffForLeader
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012)
Even better than I remembered! Turtle Power!
My dad and I watched this show together when I was younger. I remember my dad being so excited about it because he grew up on the original and watched it with his little brothers. We ended up loving it and tried to watch it every time it came on. He ended up passing away before the show ended and I didn't have the strength to finish it for a few years. Then out of nowhere my little brother decided he wanted to watch it with me and I finally finished it with him. We had a great time watching it and I felt closer to my dad in the process. Sappy story aside, this show is fantastic! The animation style great and its fun how they incorporated 2D animation in it which I'm guessing is a nod to how this franchise started in the comic books. The character development is phenomenal and the story telling is very fun. And for a kids show...it gets very deep and emotional at times and made me cry once. It has mature themes but still has fun, goofy, and wacky themes. The writers definitely had fun with this show and really explored every angle they could. Some things happened that the original TMNT couldn't even dream of and that was so cool! 10 out of 10! Booyakasha! #Donapril PIZZA! Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Good, the Bad and Casey Jones (2014)
The good, the Bad and Casey Jones is great!
When Casey Jones first debuted, I was skeptical of the character. (Also just wanted to say I'm not and original TMNT fan from the 80s but I new Casey was from the original.) He seemed off to me and I wasn't sure how to feel. But in this episode I don't know he just really made his goofy mark I guess. I could almost see his character development for the future and how he could grow connections with each character. He might not seem like much at first but trust me he grows on you.
