Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent (2024)
Okay first episode
I have to laugh at some of the reviews here.
I'd like to point out that Law & Order Criminal Intent does NOT include a trial. The episode always ends with the case solved and the bad guy getting arrested. So no, there is nothing "missing" in the Toronto formula, it's exactly the same format as the original Criminal Intent.
My review:
I found the two leads to be pretty good, and Karen Robinson is terrific as usual. Character development should be interesting.
I found the acting of the guest cast cringe-worthy at times, but some of that may be the dialog. Perhaps the director? And the plot was pretty lame. If this was "ripped from the headlines" I sure don't recall the story.
My biggest complaint was how fast everyone was walking. And even the talking seemed really fast. It was weird.
Hopefully the following episodes will have better actors in the guest roles, and a more thoughtful script. The plot in the first episode had some major holes in it.
Secrets (2017)
Seriously?
This movie was a hodgepodge of different stories, from infidelity, workplace sabotage, and dysfunctional families.
Someone should explain to the writers that blood type is not the same as DNA. Apparently the hospital has an ICU but no blood in storage because all family members were tested on the spot. Just so dumb.
Lead actress cries a lot but never sheds a tear.
Husband was a piece of s**t.
Soundtrack was good.
The Good Father: The Martin MacNeill Story (2021)
Terrible movie
This movie is pretty bad. The script, the plot, the acting. I guess I can't blame the actors, given what they had to work with, but I would be embarrassed to be in a movie like this. The father goes from loving husband to psychopath overnight. The daughter solves a murder that the cops couldn't figure out. She lays out her entire hypothesis during the trial and not once did the defence object. So ridiculous. Might be based on a true story, but I'm sure the trial is complete fiction. Truly bad movie.
On the 12th Date of Christmas (2020)
Actors are wrong for plot
This story is centred around two people in the gaming industry. The female up-and-comer who just left her small town for the "big city" looks like a 35-40 year old ex-model. She's home sick and misses her grandma.
I think the story was a decent time-waster but I wish Hallmark would hire more unconventional looking actresses and also do a better job at casting. Stop casting 35 year olds for roles better suited to someone 10 years younger.
