Compared to Season 1...a dip in writing, acting and storyline. I also think it's a cop out to end the first season with a bombshell where every main character trashes and/or leaves the network and then immediately follow it with the next season where they are all back at UBA. Not creative.

I'm confused by some of these harsh reviews especially around the acting. I think both women delivered subtle, nuanced and patient performances that truly reflect the times. This was 100 years ago (!!) - 40 years before the Civil Rights Act. Rene's stoic exterior greatly contradicts the inner turmoil raging within her. I think the direction and cinematography really capture the slow burning resentment Rene has for Clare. Clare slowly and insidiously captivates every room she walks into due to her charm and "whiteness". I loved the build of this movie and was so very excited to watch a story about a topic and time period that rarely is shown today.
