Charming, top tier CG to rival Pixar
17 April 2008
A really nice adaptation of Horton here which really puts the Dreamworks movies to shame hitting a near perfect balance between sweet and funny.

The pacing is kind of strange for the first 20 minutes or so almost like it is too excited to tell it's story but it really picks up after the mission is started and the spot on kids anime parody shows it's head.

This is a real pleasant surprise for a non Pixar CG film. I would say it even betters the likes of 'Cars' and 'A Bug's life'. I don't know what the studio has planned next but I'm looking forward to it and will probably actually go to the cinema for the next one.

A broken comic
9 February 2008
This show is really a shame. It is so unfortunate to see Marc Wootton go down to the level of A "Two pints of lager..." caliber of comedy. "High Spirits with Shirley Ghostman" was one of BBC comedy's finest achievements, and all I can guess is that either the writers( Peter Baynham, one of the finest comedy writers in Britain) were the ones who made Shirley Ghostman so great, or that Marc received too much negative feedback for his portrayal of the very cruel and controversial character.

This show is yet another trite sketch show, where Marc dumbs down his talents. Another kick in the face for TV I guess. Good thing I rarely ever watch it anymore.

Quality London-Based entertainment
20 October 2006
The first episode of 'Man to Man with Dean Learner' that just aired was at least up to scratch with most episodes of 'Garth Marenghi's Darkplace' and had me at "My Maisonette". Hope it keeps up the good work of 'faux terribles' on my TV. Richard Ayoade is one of the best in the new breed of "alternative comedy"(I hate this phrase but am too lazy too think of another one.) comedians on TV today.I'm glad that on a trip of local DVD retailers today "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace" was sold out across the board. Even from his brief stint in Nathan Barley I knew that Ayoade was a serious talent and I'm sure he would have been great as Dixon Bainbridge in 'The Mighty Boosh' To continued success! In the vein of these programs I also felt it necessary to extend my review, in order to secure a place on this public domain.
