Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)
If I could give a 0 I would
This is one of the worst film I've seen from a successful horror franchise ever. I was in shock with how atrocious the acting, directing, effects, and story was. The story goes in some baffling directions, it's like the writers had never seen a creeper film in their lives. I literally wanted the Creeper to reach through the screen and rip my eyes out to keep me from watching this eye sore. The green screen is so horribly distracting and just takes you out of it.
AND THE KILLS!!! The kills are even worse. How can you mess that up?! Since when does the Creeper use a bear trap? In a house?! Please just put this franchise out of its misery. No competent director will touch this project with a 100 ft pole.
Them (2021)
Horrifically Captivating
This is one of the best shows that I've seen period. From beginning to end! The horror isn't just supernatural, but the true horrors of America's past as well. Everything is masterful, from camera work, to story telling, and acting. Had a few negatives such as audio in various scenes and a couple loose ends but overall Them is amazing and will definitely be one to recommend. Disclaimer: Not for the squeamish.
The Dark and the Wicked (2020)
Same goat but missing a leg
The dark and the wicked grips you in the beginning, but as the film goes on the grip loosens more and more. It's missing a key ingredient, a compelling story. I'm all for slow burns, but give me solid characters, that way I feel more for them instead of just nodding my head as they die on screen. There was a few times where I thought "gee someone else would've shot this scene a whole of a lot better." I just thought this film was a total bore, don't go in with high expectations. I saw that 90 on rotten tomatoes and thought I must've misread it as a 40.
Come Play (2020)
Jump scares galore!
Larry the monster is just plain scary, no wonder he has no friends. John Gallagher Jr is awesome as always. Gillian Jacobs is believable as a mother trying to gain her sons trust, and Azhy Robertson is an amazing child actor! Top that off with an emotional story line and a sympathetic monster and you have a good time at the movie theater.
The Empty Man (2020)
A Pleasantly dark surprise
I went into The Empty Man not knowing anything about it. It was dumped out of nowhere and by the looks of the trailer I figured why. It seemed like a teen horror in the vein of countdown, truth or dare, or even bye bye man. But after the first twenty minutes of this film, I knew I was in for something much different. There is some truly chilling scenes in here, and the atmosphere just adds to the sense of dread. Now the climax of the film does get a bit clunky, but I imagine with this being based on a comic series, it's a lot more flushed out there, but even with an almost 2 1/2 hour run time, it felt like more was needed to be explained. Overall I came out of the empty man not feeling empty at all. It deserves an audience.
