The Boy Behind the Door (2020)
3 stars for child actors, they can act
But 1 point for plot and logic of this horrendous movie. This is a lame excuse for writers and director to resort into cliché dumb choices in most horror/thriller genre, make the main character children! In that case the defender of this garbage will reason out: "bUt tHeY aRe JusT kIDS!" to justify poor and aggravating decisions by the protagonist.
Sarap mong patayin (2021)
Obnoxious yet highly entertaining
This movie doesn't takes itself seriously, it was labeled as comedy but humor only shows at the first like ten minutes mark.
It then tries to be one of those cliché torture p0n we typically found in Hollywood but the execution (no pun intended) is not there. If they going to be daring, why film makers seems holding back? Might as well show the audience more taboo subjects and more graphics on screen. What I see on this kind of plot is it tries to shock and disgust the viewers which failed unfortunately.
The only saving grace on this movie is the lead actor Kit Thompson, I've never seen an perfect embodiment of Greek god for a while. The body and face is to die for, he's such an eye candy and of course the surprising appearance of former beauty queen Ara Arrida.
The movie has a lot of potential to be a full blown shocker thriller but it must be written and direct with clear direction on mind. I'm generous on giving it 7 stars because of hottie actor and I'm not bored throughout. It is watchable.
Hayop ka! (2020)
Good Overall
I set my expectations low, when I saw the mainstream local actors were the voice of the characters. Its premise as typical cheap romantic comedy gives me a bad vibes because of reputation of poorly-made-overused plot lines that plagues Filipino mainstream cinema.
But I still give it a chance because Filipino animations are not common. I like the cultural references and the catch of the story. I think making it as adult, dark comedy animation film is a great move. In short "Hayop Ka!" Exceeds my expectations, 7/10.
Distance (2018)
Great Acting
But my problem is the story seems flat and uninspiring. In the end, the audience was left out if the family finally made up to each other. They are still cold and distant to each other. No happy ending.
Daejang Kimchangsoo (2017)
No more, no less
There's nothing special with this movie although the cast and acting were good.
Also this is the first villain role of actor Song Seung-heon, I've seen his pristine good 'ol roles since Autumn in my hearth, he is always the good nice guy so it is very new to see him in darker role. That's the only reason why I watch Man of will.
I expect more violence and action because the trailer and beginning of the film seems it is pack with action, blood and suspense but instead it was full of dramatic moments from lead Cho Jin-woong. I feel like the escaping scene was a little bit anti climatic, it was rush and uninteresting. This movie is not bad or good either, it's just fine.
Norte, hangganan ng kasaysayan (2013)
Tiresome and Pretentious
Some of the scenes are unnecessary, you don't have to show us a long wide shot without boring the audience. Some film makers were successfully express artistic and literary value without sacrificing the entertainment side of film making.
I can sit on slow pacing movies but this one is just unwatchable, it's shame the characters are interesting especially the law student, but I cannot finish the whole thing.
