Medicine Man (1992)
Very impressed
This movie kept me engaged throughout the entire 105 minutes of the film. The concept was amazing and kept me on my toes. Are they going to find that peak again? Will they find it in time? Will they save the sick kid? so many different questions running through my head. The only thing that confused was the fact that Dr. Rae Crane pretty much hated Dr. Robert Campbell until the last 10 minutes of the movie where she proceeded to get into a relationship with him and then call off her wedding. I did believe that they were an amazing duo for finding the cure... both very head strong about everything that they believe. They also did a very god job representing the tribes that are in the rainforest from their outfit to theirs rituals and their language.
Contagion (2011)
not the worst
It was a very intriguing story line... really reminds me of events currently happening. Especially people walking around willy nilly without a mask with a high infectious virus that is rapidly spreading. There's also the awkward part where they try to incorporate a love scene while everyone is dying... doesn't really sit right with me. They even shot down a helicopter right above the hospital which absolutely no sense. Let's not forget about the fact that they ordered a ginormous bomb but then brought out this tiny little thing and them said it would only wreck things up to a 5 mile radius. All in all the actual story was very interesting and keeps you on the edge of your seat but it wasn't executed the best way it could've been.
The Happening (2008)
Truly disappointing
I was expecting a really suspenseful, nail biting, keep you on the edge of your seat film. Instead I watched something that could've been just so much more than what it was. So many holes in the story to the point that some of the things just don't add up. Some of the acting was a bit lack luster and could've had a little more emotion behind it. The characters that Mark and Zooey also have some relationship problems that they tried to incorporate into the movie, but it just was not woven into the story line well enough to flow well. The science and reasoning in this movie also made no sense. There is no logical way that the plants could communicate with each other and come to the conclusion that they want to kill off humans as if they have conscious minds. There's also no way the plants would be able to let out a chemical which would then cause wind to then effect the humans. All in all this movie had some real potential... but they dropped the ball.
