Titanic: Blood and Steel (2012)
Soap Opera
This mini-series is a fabricated piece of garbage. Production values are high, but the plot and background stories are substandard. The historic inaccuracies are too many to list. I only have 1,00 words. But this series is basically a soap opera with a ship as the backdrop. It has very little to do with Titanic, and more to do with post Victorian romance. Interspersed between the romance are stories about labor disputes that are inaccurately portrayed using contemporary values. It is an insult to the victims of the Titanic and their memory. It is an insult to the viewer's intelligence. Time would be better spent watching Spartacus or some other historically inaccurate soap opera,
Law Abiding Citizen (2009)
Like a train wreck..I had to watch it!
To say this movie is bad would be too kind. I watched it to see just how stupid and improbable it could get. And man did it get stupid. The movie was okay up until they fast forward ten years. The first question for me is why would they go after Darby for the tampering of the "lethal injection" of his partner? He already screwed him by making a deal that caused him to take the fall. Dumb. And why would Clyde wait until the day of execution to lead Darby into his trap? They arrest Clyde without any real cause. Throw him in prison even before he is charged with any crime. There were some good actors in the film. Unfortunately the script sucked and the director was a moron. And the fact that so many of you have rated this movie so high makes me worry about your intelligence. Which is ironic considering the movie is basically about a "mad" genius.
Zombieland (2009)
Funny..Stupid...but funny...
I watched the movie. Then I read this website about the movie. In the Goofs section I found this: "Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Everywhere the characters go there is electricity. While unmanned power stations and electric companies would quickly fall into disrepair, the events of the movie appear to be set only a few days after the outbreak. The power grids should be able to run at close to normal capacity for such a short period of time without any supervision or maintenance. While any areas of the grid that did go offline would not come back online by themselves, there's no real reason that there'd be a nationwide failure in only a handful of days."
These movies always do this. After everyone dies they think the lights will stay on. Stupid.
Deathtrap (1982)
Huh?
I do not believe all the praise for this movie. The play and movie were a ripoff of Sleuth. Michael Caine wishes he were Olivier, and Reeves wishes he were Caine. Caine even had the nerve to do a remake of Sleuth with Jude Law playing his original part. Jude Law? You mean the one that did the remake of "Alfie"?
This movie was made during a period of Caine's career when it was obvious he needed to pay off gambling debts. He would do anything for money. He would star in such award winning movies such as this, and "Beyond the Poseidon Adventure". What seems to be driving the praise for this movie is Reeves death. He deserves better than to be remembered for this lousy movie. And so does Caine. This movie can be found in the $5.97 bin at Walmart. Along with gems like "The Island", and "Blame it on Rio".
Next (2007)
Thought it sucked in less than 2 minutes!
Good cast. Great idea for a movie. That being said....The plot made no sense. If you could call it a plot. The time line of events is was all out of whack. Which is ironic for a movie about a man that can see two minutes into the future. Cage is the same character he always plays. Biel collected an easy paycheck for a role that was not necessary for the "plot". Moore's character was the only one in the FBI that was even remotely competent. Which makes me feel real good about national security. And the terrorists. Why, and how would they even know about Chris Johnson? And if he is all they think he is, there is no way to beat him. And since everyone in the movie can transport themselves around the country at light speed, who cares about a man that can see only a lousy two minutes into the future?
Drowning Mona (2000)
Oh Verplank
If you have ever been to the real Verplank, you would know why they picked the name of the town for this story. I grew up in the town next to Verplank. And if any group of sorry trash needed to be ridiculed in a movie, it is Verplank. Too bad they didn't film in the real Verplank. Probably too trashy for the producers. Verplank Does not have the colorful characters found in this movie. The residents lack even the endearing qualities that Mona displays. And even YUGO would be ashamed to be associated with them. Verplank is referred to as the "Point" because it is a point of land in the Hudson river. But in reality, it is a butt. And when I saw the opening credits to this movie I laughed because Verplank had found it rightful place in movie history.
Crimson Tide (1995)
Red is dead
This movie is an insult to ALL submariners. It was stupid. It appeared to have been written by monkeys. The acting was absurd. If this is the view most people have of the Navy, then I weep for our defense. This movie was awful. I put it below "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" as far as submarine movies go. Gene Hackman must have really needed rent money to do this crap. Denzel Washington must have been high. Little in the plot makes any sense. And the ending. For a mutineer to be rewarded for his crime? Only Hollywood would think of this garbage. If you haven't figured it out yet, I didn't like it. And if it wasn't for all the pro comments, I would not have bothered to post.
