West 10 LDN (2008)
Great British Drama!!
If there is one thing us brits can do, it's make a drama!!! Very good with a great cast, lots from Kidulthood, which can't be bad. What annoys me though is that while we're always making way for all the new American shows, which are about as lifelike as The Kraken, the British Dramas have a nasty habit of showing us a pilot episode that turns into zilch!!! Beginning to think that we're being taken over by Americans, but no one has thought to tell us. They did the same with Hex, gave us 2 series, and then ended it way before the story was over!! Anyway enough moaning......its great to see that we obviously have a lot of talent in our little Isle. Time and time again we produce fantastic drama that is both believable and gritty. It might not always be very pretty, but its very true to life, and deals with a lot of day to day issues that in todays world we have to deal with. There are drugs, vandalism, violence etc in all our lives now, even if its just from reading the daily papers. I would definitely like to see more of what Noel is capable of, as he has already shown what a versatile actor he is, by appearing in completely opposite ends of the spectrum, namely Kidulthood and Doctor Who, i mean how different can you get. More British shows, bring it on!!!!!
Outlaw (2007)
Brilliant Raw British Drama!
I am utterly shocked that people obviously didn't enjoy (or understand) this film. Every Nick Love film I have ever watched has been nothing short of genius and this is no exception. Rupert Friends character (for those of you without enough neurons to understand it), was intended to fade into the background like a "wallflower", as a result of the attack launched at him-ever been attacked, people? Gives your confidence a knock, I speak from personal experience! Lennie James' uhming and aahing? This could be due to the fact that he is a barrister, educated to uphold the law,and now has to deviate against his own morals and beliefs, and has just suffered a disturbing, double bereavement that he has blamed himself for! Bob Hoskins? Although it wasn't written in black and white, for those of you who may be a little slow, was the one really calling the shots, not Sean Bean-think about it, the criminal records that Beans character has obtained, are not through his own doing! Sean Bean-a typical man scorned, he feels the need to release his aggression upon criminals on the street, instead of his estranged wife. Understandable, really, don't expect his heart has an on/off switch, eh? Sean Harris' character was designed to be psychotic, deviating from the usual casting, of an over-sized oaf, who everyone is afraid of playing the role, be fair, this was new, refreshing and quite chilling! And as for Danny Dyers acting skills not being "up to par", you're all having a laugh, the film is following him through phases he is going through, eg at the beginning, he has little confidence in himself (which also makes a nice change considering his past roles), so he lets his fiancée ignore him when hes speaking to her. By the end of the film, however he has realised that he is big enough to walk away from a relationship that has died, although, admittedly, a bit too late! Now all you dunces at the back of the cinema, go back and watch the film again, only this time, rely on my comments to understand the complexity and thought that has gone into each and every one of the characters in this film!!!!! Happy viewing-British film wins again!!!!!!!
