Half-Life: Counter-Strike (2000 Video Game)

Pitchforks?!? Where?
8 October 2001
Contrary to some people's opinion, pitchforks, jetpacks, ninja stars, and grenade-throwing hostages were never part of the game. A simple look at the changelog for the game will show that these aspects were never included in any release of Counter-Strike.

Half-Life: Counter-Strike (2000 Video Game)

A very addicting game
20 August 2001
Ok, my friends have played this game since it was in beta testing (summer 1999). I watched them, but I never played -- until about 2 months ago. This is one of the best, most addicting games ever. Counter-Strike is a multiplayer-only PC game played either over a network or the Internet.

The game simulates terrorist/counter-terrorist action. You can join either the terrorist or the counter-terrorist (CT) team. The two most common scenarios are bomb defusion and hostage rescue. In bomb defusion, one terrorist is given a bomb and must plant it at a specified location. The CTs must either kill all of the terrorists prior to the planting of the bomb or defuse the bomb once it has been planted. In hostage rescue, the terrorists must prevent the CTs from rescuing the hostages.

A little background into the making of the game: Counter-Strike is a modification of Valve Software's game "Half-Life." Counter-Strike was not created by Valve, but by a group of people seeking to improve the multiplayer aspects of the game. It is more popular than the original game, played by millions of players all over the world.

Note: This game features graphic violence and should not be played by children.

Rush Hour 2 (2001)

Better than the first one.
14 August 2001
I enjoyed this movie better than the original Rush Hour. Inasmuch as this movie is an "action comedy," it fulfills its purpose: to entertain the audience. There's more action than the original, and Chris Tucker actually fights (something he didn't do much in the first movie). As with all Jackie Chan movies, there are outtakes in the closing credits.

The Rock (1996)

An *action* movie...
14 August 2001
Some people think that this is a terrible movie. People say that the point of the car chase was to destroy things. Of course it was! The Rock is an *action* movie. You are supposed to see thing blow up, people shot, cars being crashed. As for the fact that the director changes camera angles often: it adds to the action. It's a boring action movie seeing one shot of an explosion. You want to see the thing being blown up, and then the people's expressions as they run away.

To sum up my thoughts: It's an action movie, not a drama. Judge the movie according to its genre.

The Legend of Zelda (1986 Video Game)

One of the best all-time games
12 August 2001
Warning: Spoilers
This game is over 15 years old, and I still love to play it. When it came out, this was *the game* -- the one you absolutely *must have* -- the one you begged your parents incessantly to buy. The graphics were excellent (for the time), and the musical score gave an interesting edge to the game. If you haven't played this game, then I highly suggest playing it.

*SPOILER**SPOILER**SPOILER* *SPOILER**SPOILER**SPOILER* *SPOILER**SPOILER**SPOILER*

Ok, if you've read this far, then you've already played the game, or don't care if things get revealed, so now I can tell you about the best feature: The 2nd quest. That's right. Just when you think you've done it all. You've beaten Ganon. You saved Zelda and retrieved the Triforce. And now -- you get to play a 2nd quest. The point is the same as the 1st quest, but this quest is much more difficult. Then, when you beat the 2nd quest, you have done it all. You are on top of the world. You have, in fact, saved the world. Congratulations.
