Solid Sience Fiction with interesting Storyline
26 August 2015
A group of mercenaries wake up in a ship without memory. Because of that they have to find a new way of handling things, because they themselves don't know who they are and how they react.

The Cast itself has everything any other Syfi cast has, especially when you see the pilot all of them kind of stereotypes you know (the girl, the hottie, the cyborg, the weaponsfreak, the martial arts guy, the techie...). nothing new here. Luckily this changes a bit over the next view shows and you feel that there is a good character development.

Because of this exploration of the characters this TV-show has its right to exist and is nice to watch. Some of the actors even do a decent job. It could be a bit more funny thou :)

I like it and i hope it will last long and improve in quality over time like some of the better syfi shows did.

It's complicated
10 April 2013
I really didn't want to watch this movie. The low rating is an absolute no go. But thanks to some user comments i saw a potential.

I'm happy that i took the chance. It's a movie about life in a certain age - my age. Maybe thats the the reason i liked the movie. It was true. I had a good feeling watching it. I didn't always like the way the camera was moving, but in the end it gave the movie an innocent touch.

This movie takes you into the life of some people you get to know just a little bit. it's like going to a party and listening to other peoples conversations without yourself interrupting. It's a pure view of the world in the eyes of John, Mia and Violet. It's so pure you see their skin 'unphotoshopped' and thats refreshing.

I often feel being betrayed or lied about how things look like, how people look like or how locations, bars, streets look like. All the lights, all the make up, all the color boosts... sometimes its just too much.

To view a movie about kind of a real life story - it's a nice idea to do that with real faces, real streets, real situations. And with that comes no explosion, no special close up event, no beautiful candle light sex scene... etc..

That said, this movie is definitively underrated. If you like Lost in Translation or Vicky Christina Barcelona - you may like this movie too. Just don't expect beautiful colors, perfect romance or a Hollywood type movie in general.

Not as good as the ppl do
19 December 2001
Sorry, but it was not as good as all you ppl do, i love the book, i love the characters, i love the animations, and the nature surrounded in this movie (new zealand).

But it could be done better (for sure). I don't like the fast scene changes, time changes, location changes. There is no break for getting a better feeling how long the journey and how far it goes.

The first 1 1/2 hours were gone like a time lapse. The second part was much better, little bit more Story and time. But not enough - how should a watcher know (if he didn't read the book) why Gimli is so sad about the something (? did someone hear it?) died in moria. He is sad, ok but why? I know it, but not someone who didn't read the book. what about the other presents from galadriel, what about the fear against the water from hobbits? What about the little party in Rivendell - it was dark, but secure place.

But ok, there was no time... but sometimes i think some scenes like the lovestory... or about this little scene with this stairs in moria...

It's ok allover, yes, but not this great movie everyone wants to explain. But it's MUCH better than Harry 'the silent guy with no voice and sad gaze' Potter.

5/10 maybe it will be better if i see it again, and i will, but at this time - 5 out of 10.

Cheaper crispies
13 December 2001
Many typical horror-movie views, in the beginning a typical scare about something you don't know. Since you know what it is, it's more funny than scary. Scream + Evil Dead - mix it up - take the good parts out and you have - Jeepers Creepers.

I doesn't entertain me really. 1/10

Dino Fighting - Actors were unneeded
18 July 2001
This is a film about fighting Dino's and sometimes the catch a man, but nothing more, could be a documentary, would it be like this it would be a interesting story.

But since there is the Title Jurassic Park - it's not a documentary, Sam Neil & Co are running, the Dino's chase them. Some really really really kitschy trashy scences... but if you don't think about it it's funny.

The first part was good, the second ('Godzilla') trash this one is ok.

Ah... and i hate this american end - i felt a touch of independence 'PATRIOTIC AMERICAN' day in this movie... like most out of this country. Why do they do this??? This is a question to you americans, do you see it like me and feel annoyed or doesn't it attract your attention anyhow and in no way? - I can't believe this could be!

Number 1 in my all time top five record-shop based movies
12 July 2001
Fine movie about music, love and life – what exactly life is. It‘s a movie about a man and his view of the things - his thoughts in different situations – always connected to the art of music.

It‘s life, a funny way, but life. I think it‘s a realistic movie – I love the movie, and not just because John Cusack is in it, it‘s the way the movie describes the life of the person he plays.

hehe… It‘s number one here in category ‘my all time top five record–shop based movies‘.

good actors - average movie
11 July 2001
The feeling is like one of the other movies where a robbery, theft or burglary is planned - like Entrapment - but not as sexy and high tech oriented.

I liked the movie and with Ed Norton (who had for sure the best role) the film gets a 'you don't know what will happen' touch. But all over it's just an average burglary movie not really thrilling, and on some marks in the movie you know what comes next.
