Tung gui mat yau (2001)
fighting for a storyline.....
it's a very shallow plot (even for a romantic-comedy). it's too simple and too fast.
fortunately, the chemistry between Sammi and Tony works and this movie is actually watchable. and their characters have their unique charm despite their flaws. i'm kind of undecided on whether Tony's dysfunctional family acts as a distraction or a good comedic device.
very down-to-earth and simple movie, which in itself is not bad. worth watching once if you're a fan of either leads.
Ga goh yau chin yan (2002)
annoying male lead makes it a forgettable movie
it's a simple love story meets reality tv. nothing in this movie will surprise you, but that's not the problem. the romantic genre is not one that appeals because of its unpredictability.
the major failing of this movie is that the chemistry between the two leads are lacking. Sammi Cheng is passable as the female lead but at no instance does Richie Ren not annoy me. the supporting cast is also very forgettable.
just like another Sammi Cheng movie, Summer Holiday, this movie doesn't work for me because the male lead is too annoying and the chemistry between the two just doesn't work.
