The Fall Guy (2024)
Boring. Slow. Not funny. All drama and not in a good way
There are way too many positive reviews about this film. I, for one, had a very difficult time paying attention to this movie
Giving this a 3/10 because I did enjoy the perspective of a stuntman and how we don't appreciate them enough. But that's bout all this movie had to offer.
Ryan Gosling feels out of place here. Emily Blunt didn't even feel like the right character to be casted. The humor was drier than saltines, the romance was about as dead as a doorknob and the action had absolutely zero density. If you are looking for a DRAMA, I guess give it a shot but don't except much more then that.
Ryan's hair also kinda bugged me. He's hot beach blonde. But it looks almost.. too much like a wig/toupee..
I'm curious how people got through the entirety of this two hour movie other than the beautiful lead characters. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of camp. But this should have had a bit more elevation to it. It's lacking all over.
Movies like The Fall Guy should either be a kids movie or R-Rated. It's so bland in flavor but for something that took place in the 80's, it also felt was too modern. The most memorable part is Gosling jamming to All To Well and Emily Blunt walked up on him.
Ryan & Emily are such great entertainment outside of this movie. They do so well in so many things. This was just not great writing. It's all over the place and calls for a better sense of humor, better romance and all in all a more unique experience as I was expecting with such positive feedback.
The Big Door Prize (2023)
Just watch it!
Reading a lot of negative reviews on this show which scared me away from this show at first.
I saw The Big Door Prize was from one of the writers of Schitts Creek. And much like Schitt's Creek, I am completely invested in every one of the characters unique abilities to make me laugh or shed a few tears throughout the series. And while each episode feels like a chapter to each characters soul, throw in a intergalactic space toy that predicts the towns future or present "potential" by imputing your social and finger prints
Sure, it takes a minute to get attached to the characters and if you aren't invested in the characters, you will not get any of the humor, which I personally love since it's based off a book.
While it's a far reach, with the social security numbers, the magical cards and mysterious blue butt dots, it doesn't feel to far off the societal pressures of reaching your true potential when you think about it.
I full heartedly laughed, cried, and could not remove my eyes from the screen. I stayed up til 2AM just to finish the first season.
And while it may not have the same consistency of humor throughout each episode, the humor that is funny, is HILARIOUS!! Jacob's Episode had me in tears.
Them (2021)
Season One: SHOCKINGLY & GRUESOME The Scare: INSANELY TERRIFYING, THROUGH & THROUGH
The first season was great. Definitely not for everyone and has some very intense scenes i wish i was forewarned about that were truly and deeply disturbing.
However, this second season, THE SCARE - 11/10. This season is brilliant. I screamed at several points. That doesn't happen with me anymore.
The story it a complete series of twists, turns, cracks(literally), and beyond terrifying scenes that all domino into something far more terrifying then what we start out with.
The Scare has me at an awe, a jump, a HELL TO THE NO, THIS IS NOT HAPPENING AND HOW MUCH MORE SCARED COULD I BE.
I've been craving a series to just scare the absolute $hi7 out of me and not leave me disappointed towards the end. This has reached a new level of expectations for me.
And this season is nothing like the first. So please give it a chance even if you could bare to watch some of the scenes from season 1. I know i almost could not do another season of that
(NOT SAYING ITS BAD!!! It was just too much to binge and not a show you can watch on a high volume. In fact, headphones is best for season 1)
The First Omen (2024)
This movie was had lots of great moments. And some other moments too...
First off.. The movie was not horrible. It had its moments where my jaw was dropped. And mind you it is a 2-hour long movie. So those moments felt heavy. One particular scene really um.. well yeah let's just say this movie didn't bare as much teeth as it did idle hands compare to others(if you see there movie, pun intended)
Nell Tiger Free was marvelous in many moments, however I feel as thought she sometimes missed the Q. But there were moments I could not take my eye off of her. In fact, please if they ever remake Possession (1981), please cast her.
However, as much as I love these movies separately, they do not belong in the same movie(toward the end, it felt like I was more so watching Possession rather then anything related to The Omen)
Ishtar Currie Wilson!!!!!! I NEED TO SEE YOU IN MORE HOROR IMMEDIATELY. YOU WERE CRAZY AND LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!! WHICH IS WHY I WANTED MORE OF ANGELICAS STORY!
I don't know if I could tell if I enjoyed the movies without subtitles or not? I feel like it was intentional to make the movie feel as though we were in her shoes in a way, since she didn't speak Latin. It did give an eerie vibe since it was Latin and I believe only one scene was subtitled. But mixed feeling for me. I feel it would have worked better for a movie like a remake, of Possession. Sorry!
As I said it has its moments. Visual effects were outrageously delightful and that it itself is worth giving it a go. I waited to watch Immaculate so I didn't get too Nunned out. Highly recommend watching this prior before comparing the two, as im sure they are both good in their own ways. This one definitely hits different, but could have had better acting, shorter run time and support.
Also, it really did not ever need to be a whole two hours long. It could have been a simple 1.30-1.45.
Femme (2023)
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. If you don't like gay stuff, skip this one
Sorry. But this one is not for your TYPICAL heterosexual male or Christian fan base. Lots of gay stuff. And not pg-13 kind. You most likely won't enjoy it and we don't need the negative comments about it. This one's is for the gays, the theys, the girls, the trays and the ones who are in the closet. You been warned otherwise
This was an absolute marvel. Small read, her face was a bit beat up during her performances. But when I say Jules hit the nail right on the head with SEDUCTIVE REVENGE, that girl couldn't have done it better with a hammer.
STUNNING AND HOT AND SAD AND BRUTAL AND DAUNTING. I loved every moment this movie had to offer. The familiarity with the scene and the bathhouses and the community and the shows just made the movie feel like you were apart of it. The director fell short of no detail when it came to impressing a LGBTQ+ fan base. (Let's not even choke on how impressively beautiful both leading actors are. Along with the supporting actors/actress's)
And while it is revenge, it's so immaculate how this movie ends.
Love always wins.
Griselda (2024)
I would love to give this 10/10. But the glorification part is not great. Also, trigger warning for addicts
This show is amazing. It really speak volumes to how power does not just belong to men, and with that, neither does ruthlessness. Griselda was a brilliant woman who took what she knew and applied it without the middlemen. It was a great depiction of this. And Sofia, LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE her in this as a serious baddie. So different than some of her other roles, even though she still plays a mom. You genuinely fall in love and also hate her character.
But this was the cartel. It was nitty and gritty and grimey. This show very much so glorified the cartel and felt almost like she was doing the world a favor. Nothing felt wrong until a child dies. Then it kinda become a bit more real.
Overall, highly recommend! NOT FOR ANYONE STRUGGLING WITH ADDICTION! AGAIN! This glorifies drug use throughout the show and nothing short of that.
Leave the World Behind (2023)
it's so long and needed a better ending. but extremely realistic
*This movie will make you feel paranoid and uneasy. Not for anyone who has a fear of the world ending! Very realistic*
(If you can get through the whole thing)
This movie definitely was something I'm glad I waited for on Netflix. If the world were coming to an end, this would be how it looks in our eyes. And we wouldn't know anything else because newer generations have not seen/faced the damage of a civil war yet.
Very much so provokes the thought that we are very lucky to not have a war here. It also has very large amounts of satisfaction due to our typical "superstitious apocalypse" movies. When you realize this has nothing to do with religious, whole world is ending based off the Bible, we realize that maybe we should take religion a little less seriously and open up our eyes to what's happening and how we treat others. Specially those who are different than us. We should keep our narrow minded opinions to ourselves. We should make more friends then enemies and build trust amongst each other, so when the day comes and we don't have phones or access to WiFi/electronics, we at least have each other to get through.
This movie definitely deserves to be watched. It's very realistic and is one of the most accurate ways America would see its last days. It was scary and also got me to get out a real map! (Keeping it in my car along with any emergency info needed to get to a safe zone)(print out directions to your safe zones from your home and from work, just in case!)
Stop depending on your phone for everything! We need to get off these things before they become another end to America.
Appendage (2023)
This was actually kinda good!!
This is like malignant on speed but slower lol
Okay so same concept, with the twin. But it detaches itself, becomes you and feeds off your insecurities?
The whole thing was just so wacky and fun while having a good storyline. If they put more effort into the way they fed, the cheese ball ending, some actors and made the fashion designs a bit better, this would be a top notch horror flick with originality. I don't know why this movie is getting such a bad rep. Give it a try. And really give it a try cause there's some fun to it.
Also I was pleasantly surprised to see Emily Hampshirite from schitts creek in this. I didn't watch the trailer prior, but they do a fabulous job at playing a total b word. I love them as a villain!!!!
Wednesday (2022)
Not Morticia, but Ortega stay!
Really disappointed by Morticia's acting. Not her at all. Could not stand her on screen. (love you Queen Jones!)
Wednesday is cute as f. Loved her character. But the whole story with the school didn't flow well together. If you're gonna do gore, do better horror. The CGI was Goosebumpy but slaughtered the kids.
Overall I think it's getting way better of a rating then it really should due to it being Tim Burton. But being Tim Burton, I expect nothing less then creating worlds that don't feel like any other. Wednesdays universe, though dark, didn't feel like his world.
7 just because I loved Ortegas performance.
Crimes of the Future (2022)
What the actual ending
The ending made me want to go absolutely insane. I hated it. It was stupid. It was terrible. It was such a waste of a good idea. I was expecting so much more gruesome scenes but none truly made my bones curl. The idea of the plastic waters was soooo good, but this whole entire film failed. Just when you think it's getting good, they start playing with that little sticky button(which they absolutely have no idea how to control. It looks like an 3 year old playing with a joystick) I really was hyped for this movie but it definitely lacked in many aspects.
