Worth a look

Once again, I'm surprised by the negative reviews here. I shouldn't be because the vast majority of reviewers at this site seem to be such bitter curmudgeons, I wonder why they even watch movies. This is clever and funny, especially for adults. Solid cast. It's unfairly maligned here. Give it a try!

Final shot of first episode ruined it for me
12 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I can't stand animals in peril, even if it's fake. It's a deal breaker for me. I wasted a whole hour. At least I know from episode one not to go any further. There is a cat being killed by a mysterious creature, thankfully off screen but you can hear it. The last shot is a beach shore full of dead cats being picked at by seagulls. Obviously this is a horror movie but I don't care. Simply not for me.

A gem

I think each season got better. Good cast, writing, and chemistry. I don't get the bad reviews for season 3 at all. It was sad to see the departure of a great character, but people die and we all have to deal with it. I though it was handled so well. Loved the cast. Reiser's character really grew on me. Wonderful to see Kathleen Turner working again! I think she has severe rheumatoid arthritis so I imagine it isn't easy for her to work. She and Douglas are a perfectly matched couple, even when divorced. They both deserve Emmy's. Just the right tone of salty and sweet. I'd watch it again.

Disturbing

I honestly don't know how to rate this. This might be the most disturbing show I have ever seen. The cruelty and violence can be very extreme.

Worth watching

It's disappointing there are so many cynical reviewers on this site. For all movies, not just this one. Maybe these are bitter people so unhappy they feel compelled to spew their ugliness wherever the can where they don't have to worry about feedback.

This is a solid Scorsese movie with outstanding cinematography and set design. The actors are very good, especially Joe Pesci. So good to see him come out of retirement for this. Pacino is fun to watch as usual. I wasn't bothered by the de-aging. I thought it was quite good in fact. It is slower paced than a Goodfella's or Casino, but don't let that turn you off. I'm seeing a lot of ageist reviews on here complaining about the actors being too old and past their prime. That's hogwash and disrespectful. Younger generations need to get their heads out of their behinds when it comes to aging. We'll all be there someday and It makes no one less valuable. This may not be Scorsese's crowning achievement (I think he did that with Goodfella's) but it's definitely worth watching. Sure it's long by today's standards, but that just gives us more to savor. It's Netflix for crying out loud. Pause it and come back to it later if it's taking too much of your precious time.

I don't know

I found this highly intriguing and enjoyable to watch. The actors are all very good, especially Bana. Many have written to say Connie Britton's performance is lacking. Her performance is good, the character can be highly aggravating. The CB character is often simpering and naive. I didn't find this annoying until the last 2 shows, when it was almost excruciating to watch her. I wanted to shake her, she was so vapid. She was the victim of a con artist, in large part to her overly trusting and sweet nature. Characteristics her mother had too, as shown in flashbacks. These qualities aren't uncommon among many woman who are emotionally abused by the men in their lives. Overall, a great binge series worth the time.

I tried

I really wanted to love this. I found the lead character to be so unlikeable. Her parents are unlikeable. There are amusing and touching moments, but too few for me. I'm stunned it won an Emmy.

Infuriating
14 June 2019
I rarely give negative reviews and felt angry enough to do this one. I gave OA a 10 star rating for S1, even though it was spiraling somewhat at the end of the season. It was intriguing and fresh. Now halfway through S2 and I changed my rating down to 4, and that's being generous. The most pretentiously weird bs I've seen since the later seasons of the original Twin Peaks. I'm a reasonably intelligent person and I find this mess to be insulting. To create something seemingly just to be weird and over people's heads is lazy and obnoxious. This is like watching someone's bad acid trip. If I feel like I need to read an internet synopsis of each show just to understand even the basics then the writers failed big time. It's not cool to antagonize the audience.

Loved it

This moves quickly and is full of surprises. I really thought it was a drama at first, but I see it's being promoted as a comedy. I found it reminiscent of Big Little Lies. It definitely has humor, but I totally felt the anguish of both lead characters. Some may think it's preposterous, but with the Trump era, I find nothing unrealistic any more. The world is one screwed up place and people do the unthinkable. Well acted, particularly by Christina Applegate. She's always been underrated imo. I can't wait for S2 but hate that it's probably going to be a whole year to see it.

Makes you want to drink wine, in a good way!

I don't understand the poor reviews. Don't believe them because the reviewers have clearly lost their sense of humor or have unresolved bitterness. I thought all these ladies were funny and sweet. Not every movie has to be Sophie's Choice. I'd like to see this as a movie series. Sequel please! More wine!!
