Bones of Crows: The Series (2023)
May you live in interesting times.
It might be a Chinese curse but Aline certainly lived in interesting times. Hers is a story that needed telling and they told it really well. Talk about a compelling drama! Most highly recommended to everyone whoever once bought into the myth of how our government operated and what is at their moral centre. We bought into lies and let them sweep their dirty secret under the rug.
Only flaw I thought worth mentioning was the casting choice of Vincent Gale as Sir John A. MacDonald didn't have much resemblance to speak of.
Well that's it for my review and here is 100 characters to fill up the requirement. Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah Zip-a-Dee- A. Hello Lamp post what ya knowing?
Match Me Abroad (2023)
A review of the title
Seriously how did anyone say "Match Me Abroad" and not get laughed at out of the room? Referring to a woman as a broad might have flown 60 plus years ago but... If this is what Hollywood has to offer without SAG and the Writer's Guild then Hollywood should fall into the Pacific only to be reborn wherever the talent disappeared to.
It's actually pretty offensive. They are looking for a complete narrow view of what men and women from their respective country of choice are actually like. They are looking for a complete stereotype! It's actually pretty offensive and adds to the overall awkwardness of the show.
Three Pines (2022)
Compelling story
Script:10
Plot: 10
Cast: 10
Direction:10
Cinematography:10
Top quality almost the only thing they got wrong was the setting. The script has Three Pines in the Laurentians : just north of Montreal and this was shot as though it was somewhere other than Quebec. The reason this is an issue is that there would have been much more French on the signs, on uniforms, etc. The OQLF would have a hey day here. They could have changed the location to New Brunswick, Ontario, heck even Manitoba and it would have been perfect but for this one glaring mistake. The Fire Marshall's costume at the curling rink was 100% English.
The Outlaws (2021)
Very promising beginning
The second episode is funnier than the first. Of course with Stephen Merchant writing this series shows a lot of promise of getting better and better. I expect I'll be updating my rating in the near future.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Peter Dinklage as the new Alan Shore how can that be a bad thing?
