And Just Like That... (2021)
Reviews are saying it all!
Loved the original SATC, and just watched it all over again before watching AJLT. Unfortunately all the bad reviews here were truthful.
I was really looking forward to AJLT that I even signed to Max HBO just to watch it, but it was too good to be true.
The most accurate description is that new series destroyed the characters, and their depth, like many here stated in their comments. They should have just let it finish as it was, and let us keep fine memory of our favorite girlfriends having brunch together, but instead of that Miranda is an idiot, Carrie is cold, unhappy prude, Charlotte is pretentious, high pitched voice filler clown, and Samantha is just not there.
Good try, but other characters are just boring. Nobody can replace Samantha.
I' m all for inclusiveness in terms of race, sexual orientation and identity, but it is just very artificially inserted into the main core of the series, or to say, what the series once represented.
Nobody wants to see Indian matchmaking clichés when watching AJLT, we want to see fashion, liberty, outing scenes of New York, vodka-martinis, beauty.
I really need to mention the character of Charlotte here again, once she was natural beauty, sophisticated, but never irritating. Now, Charlotte scenes are uncomfortable to watch. She cannot speak normally because of the surgery on her face, or whatever it is. Her behavior is also a disaster, she is basically rich, white trash, but she has African American girlfriend, just to prove she is not.
What once was smart, confident lawyer Miranda, now turned to woman whose only goal is to follow a person who doesn't even treat her right. She is lost, she left all she believed in-education and progress, to do nothing in LA with this Che character.
I also thought sex scenes are a bit forced and uncomfortable to watch, and Miranda comes out as pathetic, which is deeply against core of her character.
Despite common opinion, I actually liked Carrie in SATC, she was humorous, romantic, smart, she always followed her heart and values. I don't know why, but in AJLT she became so cold and judge-mental. Also, she called Natasha (Big's ex) soulless bitch, and now it turned out that she has a lot more soul than Carrie, which I thought it's quite an irony.
To wrap it up, I still watched it all, season 2 is a bit better.
Un cuento perfecto (2023)
Just what I needed!
This emotional, funny, intriguing and passionate mini series is exactly what I needed this summer. Cast is amazing, chemistry between Margot & David inspiring and contagious.
Double ending made good point how life is all about little things, and those create our destiny. There is quite few hot scenes that added some edge to the story, but those were made with a good taste, not too much, not too little. For me personally actors succeeded to transfer energy and fire through the screen. I wish there was season 2 but also everything what needed to be told is told. I recommend to everyone who is into beautiful summer romance story.
