Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
Not good or bad just ok
First off, I don't know what people expecting with an ageing actor and a film series, where most of the fan Base would've seen the original films as a child.
Trying to recapture, the magic of the first films was always going to be difficult and while this doesn't quite succeed, it's still a worthwhile watch.
The plot and the action moves along at a decent pace with the scripting and plot device also working well for this type of movie. It's good to see some practical action sequences in a big Hollywood film these days.
One criticism would be that the de- aging of Harrison Ford can be a little bit jarring, but the opening action sequence was up there with some of the franchises best.
Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
How did this get made ?
This is probably one of the worst films made in the last 10 year ,but the biggest question is who decided this was a good idea, and who keeps giving Zack Snyder money to make this crap!
The dialogue and the cinema photography looks like it came out of a PS4 cut scene. As for the action sequences, imagine if a fanboy, got a hold of a camcorder and shot a load of matrix style inspired scenes, after the 2nd sequence it becomes quite annoyed and nauseating.
It Almost like they started filming, then decided to write a plot based on previous literature or films. Every actor in the film looks like they're reciting lines from hostage video.
It's telling that they couldn't get a proper studio to finance this film and instead had to go straight to streaming as no one would pay decent money to see this.
The fact they've already produced a sequel, only tells you how delusional they were when they put this thing into production.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
It just kind of exists?
What can be said about this show, it's the equivalent of TV beige boring very average and no real reason to watch.
The last few Disney+ shows that Marvel have put out have been polarising but with She-Hulk you just can't care enough to even have a real opinion it's that blah!
Maybe Disney should stop throwing show out their and rethink this, quality over quantity would be a better option.
The Pentaverate (2022)
Funny in parts with some classic characters!
Look this might not be up their with the likes of Austin Powers, but it's fun in parts and has that Monty Python feel to it.
This might not be everyone's cup of tea but if you like Mike Myers other films then it worth a Watch.
Moon Knight (2022)
Wasted opportunity!
This was Disney's chance to finally do something in the tone of the Netflix series but what we got here is just the same old MCU which is now getting tiresome.
Mundane villain bland set pieces and sanitised, these Disney+ series have been a real let down!
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
What the point ?
This is the first marvel movie that I didn't bother go to the cinema for and I'm glad I didn't waste my money.
This is just a greatest hits of all the tropes that the MCU has falling into over the last few years.
- to long. I fell asleep twice and had to rewind.
- big CGi battle with no real impact.
- unfunny sidekick
- moving to far away from the source material to try a please a wider audience
- lack lustre villain.
It's easily the worst marvel movie and they're clearly running out of ideas and characters maybe it's time to just rest the wider MCU then reboot in a few years.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Good harmless fun!
I think people are being a little hard on this show it's not meant to reinvent the wheel. It's just harmless science-fiction fun !
The set are well designed and has that classic Star Wars 1970s feel. Seeing in detail how the underworld works in the Star was universe is a nice touch, but the cut scenes can drag on from time to time.
It also interesting to see an old an actor in the leading role as I think this adds to plot and is refreshing.
If you're a fan of the wider Star Wars universe there's some good cameos as well.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Putting a whole generation off of Star Wars!
Tried watching this with my two kids today and could only stomach about 20 minutes of this, what the hell happened their no logic or substance to this movie and makes the Attack of the clones look like Citizen Kane.
I know the last movie left a lot plot lines up in the air, but really! Starting the plot of the third film in a Trilogy with a explanation of major events that happened offscreen is just lazy and an insult.
Star Wars fans just need to face facts there hasn't been a decent Star Was movie since the Empire strikes back!
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
So bad it should be against the law!
This doesn't represent any from of Star Trek that I can remember. Like Discovery this caters to no Star Trek fan I've met and just seems to want to alienate anyone who enjoyed any of the previous series. If you're looking for a fixed of old school Star Trek stick to the Oval.
Just a shame they had to drag Patrick Stewart into it.
