Jailer (2023)
"Riot concoction"
Coming from an industry dominated by daily TRP battles, Nelson has showcased his deep understanding of what audiences seek - something unconventional and uniquely fun. Those megastar cameos are strategically placed to deliver an exhilarating high. Sunil's performance shines, and Tamanna breezes through the intense action scenes.
The true victory lies in the pacing of the screenplay and the element of surprise in the upcoming scenes. The background music is spot-on, keeping the excitement high from start to finish. This is the pinnacle of what a director can offer, featuring seasoned stars and their fans with sky-high expectations.
But ultimately, it's how you feel when you step out of the theater that matters. And personally, I was thoroughly entertained.
Thunivu (2023)
Psst...Another let down !
Another confused, unnecessary 1.5X speed like, Hollywood inspired average product from Ajith's campus. It's like a watching a series of incidents between some strangers that are no way connected to the movie watchers. Poor understanding of the finance and debt. Management world, over-used gun/ explosive acts, poor editing, a bgm without a soul, a music director without understanding the power of silence in bgm.
I guess Ajith need a well seasoned regional directors with lots of life experience. Even Lokesh kanagaraj cannot save this guy in his current state.
I am neither a fan nor a hater of AK but I felt like cheated after the movie. More importantly, this movie exposed H. Vinoth's lack of experience/ understanding of human emotions, interests of mass movie audiences, subject matter depth and cinematic language. Avoid or delay until ott if you can!
Don (2022)
A beautiful mediocre movie!
The film focuses to tell you one thing for 95% of the time and tells you a completely different something for the last 20 minutes. No honest intent. Immature content and dialogues. Trying to leverage the average film goer's guilt to its benefit with last few emotional scenes. Dramatic body language all across. Wannabe director playing populism ! SK is wasted.
Navarasa (2021)
Elitist tunnel vision stories
Nothing new. Loads of old timers who are eager to ACT from go. Not an single easy take on episodes. Frustrating!
Jagame Thandhiram (2021)
Disappointing!
Poor integration of local gangsterism in a foreign land without understanding the cultural subtleties.. it's hilarious and unbelievable!
Movie lacks purpose in the first half and forcibly brought in the second part. Not helping
Overly loud dialogues and dramatic body language by all characters missing the cold/chilling gangster ambience all across.
BGM is loud and not connected to the emotions.
Only comfortable thing is camera work but that too because watching in ultra4k 75cm tv.
Overall it's a poor attempt by the director inspired by YouTube on migration and rat/spy movies.
I understand the teams intent to go global but you may need a curators team from hollywood to visually communicate that intent and the social cause this talks about to the world.
Ambitious without expertise !
Penguin (2020)
What a waste of time !
Penguin goes through micro speed and expects you to have macro patience.
Keerthi Suresh's character: Stupidity written all over. The prime sense of motherhood / especially during pregnancy is all about protecting the child. It goes through the roof. I forgot the count of times that Keerthy's character as a mother left the elder kid unattended and then searching for it. Doing all crazy things that no pregnant woman would do.
Dialogues: It demonstrates the lack of life experience of the director. Not relevant most times
Cinematography: No big complaint's there
Music: I don't think Santhosh Narayanan understood the mood and tone to be portrayed. It's a classic conflict that destroys the complete movie. I don't know how the director wants to walk us through but Santosh's music taking us through a different genre (Unfortunately not good)
In essence, there is no cohesion in delivering this project. Is this a psych killer, revenge drama, strong willed mother story or new age dark themed tech thriller??
Absolutely incompetent for a theatrical release.
Pretentious and insincere acting all through. A loosely conceived, poorly designed, incorrectly executed, not so genuine bogus thriller.
