Jools's Hootenanny (1993)
Old, tired, past it's best
The show is deteriorating year on year.
I've been a big fan since to mid 90s but I've given up on it. This most recent one was the final straw for me. With the headline act Rod Stewart who should've hung his mic up years ago and Paul Jones providing a geriatric kareoke trying to engage the audience to sing because his voice has gone. I feel sorry for the younger artists. Also, the same old has been celebrities such as Vic reeves, Jo brand and Bob Harris wittering on about there hopes for the new year, an insight no one will miss or remember who are all full of there own importance. Embarrassing.
The Undoing (2020)
Trout pout Kidman
Multiple close up face shots showcasing Nicole Kidman's facial surgery are limitless through this drab whodunnit.
With more holes in it than a colander this HBO production is weigh below there usually high standard. I can only hope it is due to the pandemic.
The grandstand OJ Simpson style finale car chase is jaw droopingly bad.
Hugh Grant and Donald Sutherland come out with some credit hence my three out of ten rating.
The show is not worth investing six hours of time to view it.
The Great House Giveaway (2020)
deceitful and fraudulent
A truly awful program of shocking levels. The premise of the show is a good one, but that's it. Young couples time, their families and friends time are all taken for a ride and ripped off over a six month period. Take a look at the sponsors (and I believe creators) of this show, a company called "Together Auction Finance", this company has such a bad rating that they've changed the company name twice due to its bad standing. They appear to be nothing more than organised legalised loan sharks. Shame on Channel 4 for engaging with such a business. And then there's the conceited smug presenter Simon O'Brien, what a twit, who never tires of telling the contestants how much of a success things would be if he was doing it, with his crack team ready to jump and add huge cost to each of the projects. The rip off fees hidden under "etc" of the costing sheet you get a glimpse of are extortionate which I believe go straight to "Together Auction Finance" no wonder the majority of the people walk away but then have to be dragged back one last time to be further humiliated to be told how much money they've lost on the project! jaw droopingly awful! what is Channel 4s obsession with Simon O'Brien?!
