The Greatest Artist of All Time
16 November 2002
Forget about Picasso and Monet. If you're looking for an artist who's art screams who she is, then look no further than Frida Kahlo. This documentary is a wonderful place to start. It explains Frida's tragic life step by step in full detail with frequent visits to her house in Mexico and examples of her artwork. I saw this documentary and fell in love with Frida's artwork and I know you will, too. Each an every one of her paintings, whether gruesome or sarcastic, is an autobiography of the greats painter ever to live.

Truly A Masterpiece!
29 August 2002
When I first heard of this new Andrew Lloyd Webber concert, I was thrilled. Lloyd Webber has been my favorite composer for years and I was eagerly awaiting this concert's arrival. I saw it on my local public broadcasting station and was greeted with an array of wonderful songs. The vocally and visually appealing Tony Vincent rocked the house with a powerful rendition of "Jesus Christ Superstar". I was pleasantly surprised to see and hear songs that are often slighted on most other Andrew Lloyd Webber collections, particularly "Take That Look Off Your Face", sung perfectly by Helen Walsh, and "The Perfect Year", a duet between Fei Xiang and one of my favorite singers Elaine Paige. I was elated to hear two songs from The Beautiful Game ("Let Us Love In Peace" and "Our Kind Of Love") which were performed beautifully by power-house, Laura Fitzpatrick. Sophie Crosato moved me to tears when her beautiful voice rang through the air with "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again". And of course, what would an Andrew Lloyd Webber event be without the fabulous Elaine Paige belting out her beloved show-stopper, "Memory"? On the bad side, I disliked Fei Xiang's singing voice and attitude. He seemed arrogant and this annoyed me. Overall, it was very-well done and I loved it so much, I ended up taping it. The music of Andrew Lloyd Webber never fails to entertain and enthrall me.

They don't make 'em like this anymore.

Betty Boop is one of my personal favorite cartoon characters, so I jump at the chance to see anything she's featured in. This cartoon follows in her typical style, but it has an indescribable air of originality. The man plot is that she and her friends are demonstrating an assortment of bogus inventions. When a sewing machine goes nutty, it's up to them to save the day and how they do it will have you applauding.

Friends or Lovers (2000– )
Trash that should never have aired.
25 May 2002
"This show is about relationships," states bubbly host, Andy Matheny, in almost every episode. This is entirely not so, unless you add "ruining" before "relationships." The basic idea is that there is a couple sitting in a sound-proof booth. A friend of one of the paramours has something incriminating to tell them about the other, usually that he or she has been unfaithful. The friend is sent away and the clueless lover is brought out and questioned about his or her partner. The response is always pleasant and loving. The friend is brought back and tells him or her of the other partner's infidelity. At last the other lover is brought out. They get down on their knees and confess to the friend's accusations. Then, our unaturally happy host gives two vacation tickets to the previously clueless person. It is then that person's decision of who to take on the vacation. When Matheny claims this waste of air time is "about relationships," I can't help but laugh.

A Wonderful Holiday Toon!
17 April 2002
It's truly a shame that this cartoon, among so many others, has been forgotten over the years. In this heart-warming Christmas joy, a dog named Hector is faced with the task of keeping three mischievous puppies out of trouble so his owner doesn't kick him out into the snow. The light-hearted trouble these playful pups get Hector into will make you laugh and sigh. They don't make Christmas cartoons like this anymore. This is one that will, a rightfully should, be treasured by the whole family for generations to come.

Sarah is truly the angel of music!
7 April 2002
It is no wonder Sarah Brightman calls this video "One Night In Eden." You will truly be in paradise when you view it. She sings a number of beautiful songs with her angelic voice. Her range is pleasantly astounding. Whether you're an opera fan or a pop lover, Sarah can do it all in this concert. Just some of the many highlights are "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Deliver Me," "Eden," "Only An Ocean Away," "The Music Of The Night," "Who Want To Live Forever" and "Il Cuore Mio Va" (the Titanic song in Italian). If heaven is anything like the music of Sarah Brightman, then "who wants to live forever?"

Scary and Fun!
7 April 2002
This cartoon is one of my all-time favorites. I absolutely love old cartoons and movies, so naturally I had to give this one a try and I found that this is a frightening little goody. It's about a little bear who has run away from home and is one the run from "Old Man Winter." His adventure is wonderfully written and even more wonderfully animated. This cartoon will have you smiling from the very beginning to the cleverly done end.

Awesome example of an animal show!
5 June 2001
Jeff Corwin is the best animal show host there is. He combines educational adventures with good clean family fun. He does these hilarious voices. Looking for a laugh and some great animal footage? This is the show for you. Move over, Croc Hunter!

Pumpkinhead (1988)

Good fright, bad plot.
5 June 2001
The movie's ability to scare a person is great and deserves to be saluted, but the overall plot is so dragged out that some of the scariest moments are when you're waiting for something scary to happen. I'm a horror flick fan, but this film is just... boring.

Chucky at his all-time best!
29 May 2001
Child's Play is the only horror series I've seen completely, so I should know the goods and bads of all of them. Number two is by far my favorite. It has everything the first one had, but more. More terror, more characters, more fun. I really recommend you see this.

The Snow Man (1940)

Scary! And a lot of fun.
13 May 2001
This cartoon is a little known classic. It all begins when a bunch of furry little creatures in the South Pole build a snowman. The begin to throw snowballs at him, making come to life and get angry. This is a terrifying cartoon for a young child (I should know, I was three when I first saw it in 1989), so I don't recommend it for children that are too young, but for older kids, it's a truck load of holiday fun.

Sailor Moon (1995–2000)
Quite Possibly Japan's Best Export!
21 April 2001
If your an Anime fan you know what I mean. This show, while sometimes a little overly cute, is probably the best. The underlined theme of the entire show is the importance of love and friendship. The "Sailor Moons Says" segments at the end of most episodes provide good advice especially for young children (for whom the show is meant). I was a little angered when I saw that the Americanized version was edited, but probably for the best.

General Hospital (1963– )
General what?
21 April 2001
When I first started watching General Hospital a year ago, I expected doctors with regular soap problems. Instead I got an eccentric police cheif, a couple of blonde sluts, a few rebel teens, and one emotionless mob boss. I asked myself "where the hell is the hospital?" I still watch for the stories (although some of them need work) and also for it's age. When you look at it, it's still a good old soap, but the same "oh, so-and-so died? I think I'll have a malted milk," is getting old.

You're into the time slip....
16 April 2001
This is one of the movies of all time. Never has there been a combination like Tim Curry, Susan Surandon and Barry Bostwick (Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Janet Weiss, Brad Majors) or a deadlier duo than Patricia Quinn and Richard O'Brien (Magenta, Riff Raff) in any other movie, before or after. This movie is a lot of fun to watch.
