Vanilla Sky (2001)
Astonishingly Bad
Vanilla Sky is a mess. It's hard to believe a studio would actually let a film like this be made. Not because of how bad it is (bad movies are made all the time) but of how bizzare it is. I watched this film expecting a clever, suspenseful thriller. Was I ever wrong, Vanilla Sky is the bastard offspring of Sci-Fi, Romance, Drama and Arthouse, and instead of revealing bit by bit of the plot, leaving you on the edge of your chair in suspense until the end of the film, it is contrived and ridiculous. Sadly it seems some mistake inane and ridiculous for clever and creative, considering it's 7.0 Imdb rating and $100M box office take. To those, a little advice: Open Your Eyes.
Back of the Y Masterpiece Television (2001)
T.V. doesn't get much crapper than this. (in a good way, of course)
Back Of The Y was (is?) one of the funniest NZ shows on T.V. A good half-hour of toilet humour, masturbation jokes and crap stunts. Edited on an Apple iMac with an $8000 budget per episode, it's first season last 6 episodes followed by a special called "Behind The Y". Among the characters are Spanners Watson, the retarded South islander, Dick Johansonson, extreme stunt co-ordinator, Danny Parker, the show's host and Randy Campbell, stuntman extrodinaire.
That '80s Show (2002)
How bad can TV get?
What a poor effort. That 80's Show aired in NZ tonight and it was a new high in low for T.V. Seriously unfunny, lame characters and a poor cash in on the success of "That 70's Show". Anyone who derives enjoyment out of this probaly can't remember yesterday let alone the 80's.
Good one Fox, cancel Married... With Children and Futurama and put this on. Quality programming? Nah, who needs that?
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
A Great Film, For Children And Adults
This is a great film, enjoyable by all ages. The lovely lavishly designed sets combined with wonderful story-telling of Roald Dahl makes it one of (if not) the best children's films of all time. Rumours are Tim Burton's making a remake, it would be excellent if he made Charlie And The Great Glass Elevator into a movie too. Superb.
