Bridgerton (2020)
Season 1 is great, season 2 abysmal
Originally I was shocked at this take of a typical British historical show with the mixed races. No one was crying out against POC taking purely Caucasian roles. But politics aside...
Loved the tension and characters of season 1. It melded beautifully and was very entertaining, especially the 2 leads.
Season 2 was ridiculous!! Completely disappointed after the first season. No chemistry, tension was way too forced. The side stories were bland and boring.
Guess we will see what they do with season 3...don't have high hopes. Just watch season one!
The Lovely Bones (2009)
Worst adaptation I've ever seen
The book was a masterpiece. I'm usually the person who watches the movie but hasn't read the book. However I did read this book years before the movie, and this film was nothing like the book!! It was basically a G/PG version of a R movie, without any depth of character. It is a complete waste of incredible talent as well. Could have been an Oscar contender but ended up be a Razzie!!
Get Out (2017)
Different take on Skeleton Key
This movie is very tense and well done. Having said that, it is almost a direct rip off of the movie with Kate Hudson, The Skeleton Key. The main difference is that Peele used the framework and main twist of that movie and made it about racism. Brilliant move, but if you've seen Hudson's movie (released in 2005) it wasn't a real surprise when the twist is revealed.
Nikita (1997)
The best t.v. show ever!!! If you liked Alias or 24, watch this....
La Femme Nikita was groundbreaking and would've been on a lot longer had it aired on a major network. This was really the first time a female was given a strong, intelligent starring role on a t.v. series. The writers/directors of this show have gone on to write and direct for the popular "24" starring Keifer Sutherland, and several actors from Nikita show up in "24". The technology used in the show was incredible for the time. The actors are all first rate and it's the characters in the show that keep you coming back. "Alias" was a direct ripoff of this series, but it wasn't nearly as well done as Nikita. The fan base for this show was huge, and still is even though it is no longer airing. Roy Dupuis (Michael) is a huge star in Canada and his take on the role is perfect. His minimalistic style is what you would expect from a member of the world's most covert anti-terrorism group. Peta Wilson (Nikita) is believable in her role, unlike many females in physical roles. All of the supporting actors are great and many have had vast and varied careers.
