Overrated and lacks soul
1 May 2024
This is one of the most overrated shows in 2024. I started watching with no background on the novel or the first show, nor I had any high expectations. But episode after the other I lose more interest and push myself hard to keep watching just for the sake of closure.

I generally like Sanada and enjoy his performance. And I love quality Japanese drama, especially the Samurai era. But sadly I couldn't find anything attention worthy in this show.

The show lacks any kind of depth, real struggles, or quality surprises. At the contrary, it feels flat and hollow. It feels more like "random" than "predictable".

I think that the real problem is the lack of a coherent plot that structures the show. Throughout the show, all events and characters feel like "they're just there", but no well structured plot that give you a reason to keep watching

On a mildly positive node, Sanada's performance is good, so is Javris but to a lesser degree. Anna Saway starts well then she becomes a bit boring. Nikaido and Kouri are absolute cringe!

It feels like a waste of time. Won't recommend it.

Disgusting crap
24 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is an absolute insult. Saltburn is one of those so called "simpleton's epic" movies. Just a noobish attempt to create an arthouse style drama with zero plausibility and undercooked structure.

I'm really disgusted by the final twist. It's an absolute insult to the viewer! So Emerlad, you through a set of loosely established long shots, a bunch of disgusting disgusting behaviors (licking period blood, sniffing and drinking male fluids, ...), and tons of unfounded coincidences, then you "shock" us by the ridiculous reveal of "it's by design from the beginning" stock twist?? This only wow's a tiktokheads not a > 85 IQ human!

One of my biggest regrets in 2023! RUNAWAY.

Slow Horses (2022– )

Sad it came down to this (Season 1 through 3 drop)
8 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I never read the novels, so I had zero expectations while watching

Slow Horses started off well. I was impressed particularly by Gary Oldman performance, concluding Season 1 with decent level of interest

Jumping to the second season, writing started to become more amateurish, over doing topics like Lamb's lack of hygiene, and adding too many nonsensical characters choices. Acting started to drop by introducing Kadiff Kirwan (as Markus)

Now, at the time of writing three episodes from season three have passed, and I can't even tolerate pushing myself to the end of season! It's becoming too ridiculous to tolerate! Even Rosalind Eleazer (as Luisa) is terribly overacting her grumpy role, stupid coincidences like discovering getting lead to kidnapped Standish from a common hair clip on randomly dropped under a bridge, plus a lot of stupid dialogues between Shirly and Markus that sound like a grade 3 school skit!

I don't think I'll keep watching it.

Peaky Blinders (2013–2022)

A show about whiskey, sex, and some other random stuff
23 November 2023
Peaky blinders is one of those hard to rate shows. There's nothing "that bad" about it, but there's not much "that good" either

Let me first acknowledge that acting overall is great. Characters are very likable, costumes and sets are ok'ish, but that's about it.

The first episode failed to hook me, even though I was ready to get hooked. But I got in as Season 1 progresses. It was sort of entertaining. But the problem is that the writer didn't have a clear vision of how he wants the show to be, hence no season really served the following ones. It's neither an anthology nor a continuation, it's just a a confused series of irrelevant events that mildly and inconsistently connect.

One of the weaker aspects of the show is character development. It's not consistent or insightful. It feels like a superficial attempt to create a likable group of characters, which it did in a sense but at the cost of sensibility

Seasons 3 and 4 seem like fillers, 5 was the worst. 6 was an attempt to end on a good note. But overall, the show lost its essence after season 2, when plot holes and absurd events were too much to ignore

I don't really think it deserves the hype, nor the time to watch it.

Btw, did you notice from the very beginning how terrible the editing was and continuity errors were obvious? One of the first scenes when Polly was holding a gun with her finger on the trigger, the very next shot it was on the grip. Lame.

I'm confused, who is this really for?
29 October 2023
No, for real, who is this for?

Before you read, this is for the Season One only, which is the more praised one!

TL;DR. It's too ridiculous for adults to like, too explicit for children to watch.

I mean, like, REALLY ridiculous! All what this show is a bunch of average CGI, TERRIBLE acting, a lot of incoherent smartass dialogues, more TERRIBLE acting, and a little more, and even worse, Martha Higareda! Oh, and a lot of "bare skin", too much of it. B**bs sell, Netflix knows.

The overall theme is mediocre cyberpunk story that doesn't really hold itself up. But that's not the problem, the problem is that it seems like it was written by a confused cartoon writer who wanted to move into adult content creation and he got trapped in between, so he decided to write a movie with his cartoonish mindset and his adult'ish fantasies.

I gave two stars solely for the mildly interesting performance of Will Yun Lee (As Kovac), and the little better of Chris Conner (as Poe)

Did I mention how disengaging the fight scenes and how terribly choreographed they are?

Saw X (2023)
3/10
More of an amateurish B-Movie than a franchise title
23 October 2023
I'm a big fan of Saw franchise (except the trash can titled "Spiral"). But this one is a clear money grab! No one seemed to show the least bit of care of creating a quality movie. Rather, they just grabbed a few Saw signature elements (quick jittery camera movements, grungy color grading, mechanical gadgets with industrial sound fx...) but that's about it. They didn't even pay least attention to making actors look younger than the first installment since it's a prequel. In contrary, they look at least 10 years older (which is the fact). Even the iconic Hello Zepp theme is not presented in place!

Story is as predictable, flat, and mediocre as it can get! Acting is average to bad. Let's squeeze the franchise even more, a few extra grands won't hurt anyone but the viewers, and who cares

One thing I liked about this movie is that it helped me sleep in a terribly insomnious night (for real)

Overrated K-Soap Opera
5 October 2023
Just another K-Drama hyper popularized by the mindless K-fanaticism

I tried really hard to enjoy this show. But it's boring AF, unoriginal, illogical, childish, amateurish, and as plausible as a low quality anime!

Acting overall is good at best, so is music and cinematography. While editing is a disaster! Story is all over the place. Plot is built on endless unfounded coincidences. Twists are there just for the sake of it

Overall, it's a mess hidden by a Korean flair

Make no mistake. I have nothing against K-Drama. I have a few favs among them. But this is definitely a trap that I fell into, and regret it!

It it was exactly one tenth its length, maybe it'd have had a chance. It has some mild entertainment here and there, but it's spread so thin that it becomes bland and unnoticeable.

Silo (2023– )

Go out and clean, don't waste your time!
12 August 2023
This is an absolute trash, on all levels!

I never read the novels, so I'm not comparing to any reference. I watched it with absolutely fresh eyes, prepared from some "filler episodes" that some complained about. I can tolerate that if it pays off at the end. Guess what, there is 10 of them!

If you want to know what this show is, imagine someone who knows nothing about cooking, never ate Italian food, and has a terrible taste, who decided to make Ravioli for a gourmet competition. How can he do that? Put some eggs and flour, cheese, spinach and water in a mixer, beat everything together, then boil that dough, and serve! And oh, he uses 140 year old ingredients from before the silo!

That's exactly how this show is created! Just add some smarta** dialogues, action shots, flashbacks, irrelevant characters, more irrelevant characters, "epic" music, more irrelevant characters for the garnish, and voila! Here's your gourmet ravioli show!

Instead of establishing the story, the show starts off by wasting an entire episode on two characters with many details on their struggles and events, all to turn out will have no roles in the entire show later on, actually never see them again!

I would have assumed that the creative director is experimenting an avant garde approach to story telling, and that there's some easter eggs or twist that will reveal later on. Nope. He's just like our ravioli contestant. Knows absolutely nothing about storytelling, directing or casting!

Alright, from the absolute first scene, acting is rediculously bad! Bad to the extent that make you doubt yourself: Is this real?? Am I watching something that unbelievable and disengaging, or maybe I'm missing something that all the 9'ers and 10'ers caught? Nope. It's that bad

Let's keep going... Performance doesn't improve, characters do not develop, no meaningful backstory to create connection. I said: meaningful, because there are some 3rd-grader-English-class-assignment-level attempts for a backstory, which at that level should receive a C

Throughout the show, you have no deep connection with any character, no questions, no anticipations, except for one that is too lame to make the show interesting: Why are they in the silo

No spoilers here.

Some reviewers mentioned an epic finale, and a huge twist. Ok, I like that. I'll push myself towards the end for this sake. Nope. Nothing! Just a meaningless, unestablished, uninteresting, out of no where kind of twist that is neither shocking nor satisfying. Just like an action heist movie where the protagonist discovers that his irrelevant mother is from Latvia instead of Algeria by an irrelevant DNA test report found in the bank's trash bin as a form of twist! That's how ridiculous the finale is!

Ok, some scores: Acting: Ranging from 4/10 (Just for Rebecca Ferguson rushed performance) to 0.0034/10 for most of the rest Directing: 2/10 Sets: 5/10 Editing: 2/10 Color Grading: 3/10 Music: 1/10 (Only two or three motifs that keep repeating like hell, and are actually stolen from other shows/movies) Dialogue: Square root of -1/0, if you know what that means Plot: 0/0, if you know what that means

Note: I binged this 8 episodes 1 evening then the remaining 2 next morning. So I watched everything in its context, if it has such a thing!

I want my 10 hours back, Apple!

The Cursed (2021)
1/10
I don't know what's the opposite of binging. But that's how uninterestingly I watched it
27 July 2023
The Cursed is, well, about a curse, obviously. Only it's not!

This movie starts with an irrelevant war scene, followed by an irrelevant woman showing her b**bs in the shower, followed by a lot of irrelevant side talks about cholera and biblical stuff etc. Which all seems like a failed attempt to fill in the movie creation template (establishing scene, back story, etc). It was sort of a "don't show and don't tell" principle that doesn't exist

Acting range between solid (especially Alistair Petrie and to some extent Boyd Holbrook), to bad and disengaging (most notably Kelly Reilly), with everything in between

Cinematography is actually good, with interesting sets and gloomy color grading. But that doesn't help terrible directing, extremely bad editing, or the mediocre sound design

Is this the worst part? Actually not. The worst of all is writing. The movie has no genuinely interesting theme. It does not raise any questions that grab your attention. Only a series of highly predictable and uniteresting events that follow each other. Dialogue is lame and lacks any depth and confluence

I started off open to the experience based on the illusive reviews. Only 30 mins through I had to push myself to watch it only due to my need for closure. I had to watch in something like 15-20 mins splits, that's how interesting it is!

Interesting cast let down by poor writing and cheap direction
24 June 2023
From the very beginning, the debut starts with an overconsumed cliché of "what if you can't trust anyone," which really isn't a core element in the narrative. However, the director relies on artificial mood-making using music and overloaded yet hollow and generic dialogues that carry no substance underneath at all.

What shall I say about what my eyes perceived? They perceived very bad CGI, uninteresting cinematography, and worst of all, cringy acting. Yes, acting is subpar at best. Extras and minor characters are a shame.

The narration is the worst aspect. Information unfolds in a very amateurish way that makes the show sound like it's written as a school skit.

To my own surprise, the best performance is not delivered by Sam Jackson nor Emilia Clarke, and not even by the well-endowed Olivia Colman. Rather, it's delivered by Ben Mendlesohn. Why? Because unlike each of them, he's already a linear actor with not much versatility, so he does what he always does: cold and emotionless expressions with a deep monotonous voice, which actually works for him!

Overall, it's a very mediocre show that doesn't match what's expected from its cast

I don't think I'll keep watching...

Barry (2018–2023)
3/10
Bill Hader created a show just for himself
14 June 2023
Ok, let me put this straight. This is a terribly bad show, disguised in a hit, and let me explain why before you fry me

Bill Hader is a stellar performer, and doing Barry was no less than what you'd expect from him. He magnificently portrayed a troubled vet with psychotic disorders while trying to reform. His performance sucks you in in a split second to the shows realm. Some of the supporting actors did really good as well, especially. Stephen Root (as Fuches), and Henry Wrinkler (as Cousineau). I didn't find Sarah Goldberg (as Sally Reed) believable at all, and definitely didn't enjoy Anthony Carrigan (as Hank), yet none was "bad"

That aside, everything else in the show sucks, I mean literally! The plot is very weak and shallow, many events are distracted and don't make any sense and do not add anything to the overarching story. Overall, many scenes seem like they're there only for the sake of it, just throw everything from the fridge in a pot and stir it until it all comes together

So, what genre does this show belong to? That's the whole point: None! It's overall vibes are confused between tragedy, drama, dark comedy and silly comedy. Whenever you adjust to a style you get drifted away by another

The show started off sorta well which created the sense that it's going somewhere, but as Season 2 approaches its end, silliness took over. They started throwing in a bunch of lame jokes and situations that are pure cringe. The way they do it is to "just do the most irrelevant thing and it will be funny". It's not! It's ridiculous and out of context. Silly comedy does not blend well with dark comedy! Each has its own dynamics and tone that doesn't fuse with the other.

The more the show progresses the more it runs out of steam and start becoming random and aimless. Season 3 and 4 seemed like an amateurish attempt to do David Lynch's style avant garde with a comedic flair which didn't work well. The show ended on a detuned note, which neither made sense, impact, or reach any sort of resolution. It just ended in a superficially, pushed drama, which seemed once again as it was there just for the sake of it

Overall, the show is a waste of time, with very little enjoyment in it, mostly in Season 1.

See, Netflix?? You don't need sex or LGBT to make a show successful!
2 June 2023
I'm a super fan of Zombie genre(s). I attest that this is one of the absolute best. Yes there are a few silly holes, but the show is too good that they don't seriously affect the overall experience

Compared to shows like The Walking Dead, this does actually have a plot! Acting is good and believable for most part, cinematography is very good (great in fight scenes), costumes are great, fight scenes are well choreographed, there is no exaggeration in any aspect that I can think of

As said, there are a few ridiculous plot holes, but I guess that many people won't even notice. For which I drop two stars. Otherwise I'd had given it a 10/10 without hesitation

The show is clean of cheap attractors (unnecessary nudity, sex,...) and irrelevant agendas, unlike stereotypical Netflix! It focuses on what drama is really about: Crafting an enjoyable experience

Since I'm an older guy who watched real art before it turned into a cheap manipulation and money grabbing tool, I had almost lost hope to see a good show that doesn't sell the story with exaggerated CGI and music (Marvel. Et. Al.), boobs (HBO), or appealing to minorities (Netflix). But this show gave me some hope back. Thanks for making this happen. I hope to see more like it.

Rabbit Hole (2023)

Over hyped
29 March 2023
I don't find a real reason for the praise. At the time of writing, only two episodes are out, and that's not enough to scream of joy.

For a mystery, there must be something new, ambiguous, and feels that it's up to something which gets reviled at the end. So far, it's the same cliche of 100 other movies and shows about a person who's life is ripped off and he has no idea what's going on. Nothing original

Maybe it will turn out to be a ground breaking show. But until it concludes, it's so overrated

On MAJOR turn off is acting. Sutherland's performance is solid and natural. EVERYONE else is over acting and. And Meta Golding, OMG! This is the most disturbing performance I have ever seen!

I'm not sure if I have enough interest to continue watching.

Update Apr 24 Reaching E06, it's one of the dumbest, most annoying shows I ever watched! Dumb characters, ridiculous dialogue, non-sensical trail of events, and terribly bad acting! My disastrous need for closure urges me to keep watching this trash, but it's becoming ever worse! RUN AWAY!

I wanted to like it. But, meh...
11 January 2023
This movie is a typical case of resource waste. Good cast, nice locations, but... nothing else. No, I mean really, nothing else!

I tried hard to like it, but from the very beginning it felt like a Disney family movie (specially the Disney fantasy style sound track) not a murder mystery.

The way mystery genre works is that it gives you everything you need to solve it, but redirects you from really seeing it. This is not what happened here. All that was presented was a series of underestablished events that you have to just accept to continue the movie. And oh boy, a VERY VERY VERY long flashback, that is utterly ridiculous

When I remember the first Knives Out and how sophisticated and multilayered I feel that this one is a cheap cheat. A mere money grab that builds on the momentum of the brand, just like The Matrix Resurrection (not that bad, but still bad)

One more ugly note. I was really annoyed by how the bar scene was created! I'm not sure if it was a cheap CGI or a terrible make up that made the younger characters look like a silly chibi that doesn't even look young, especially Norton!

A definite regret.

Solid performance of a pointless plot
15 December 2022
There's nothing really here. I don't hold a grasp on what the plot is. Aubrey's performance is good, nothing spectacular though. The movie doesn't feel like it progresses in any way but how Emily (Aubrey Plaza) unleashes her mediocre criminal potential. There's really nothing to miss here. I don't even have so much to write to fill the required 600 review characters

I won't criticize the so many discrepancies in the movie, it's not even worth that much focus. Just another dull low budget that is mediocre in every possible way. No deep conflict, no climatic resolution, now surprising endings, no plot twists, nothing really. Just save your time.

The Room (2019)
4/10
Cheap, flawed, rushed version of Dorian Gray
10 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The Room appears to be exploring complex human desires and unleashed abandance. It's not.

When a couple, for no established reason or backstory, reach their new house, they accidently find a room in which their wish of any "thing" gets granted, but this "thing" cannot leave the house or it will turn into dust. The premise and the execution are utterly flawed. For example, what is this room about? Why it is here? How does it work? What is it about the complex electrical cords? Here there's a confusion between arcane mysticism and futuristic sci-fi that the authors (and the characters) decide to simply dismiss, regardless of being the core of the story!

In beginning of the discovery, Matt (Kevin Janssens) invites his wife Kate (Olga Kurylenko) to the room and asks her to wish for anything, so she wishes for a thousand dollars. What??? So his reply was: "How I never thought of that" What???

Ok, the pseudo billionaire drives his 1984 Volvo to the city, never he thought of a more recent Bentley or Bugatti? Skip that. Prior to discovering the house forbidden borders, he (and his wife) always go out with their old cheap clothes, while inside they dress all the fantasy costumes they crave??

Now, the characters. All the characters (only four) are dull, with zero back story, close to none development, and full of discrepancies and ridiculous decisions. At some point, Kate takes the car and decide to suicide. Couldn't she have just wished for a gun, poison pill, or just to vanish??

Now, why does every wished "thing" leaves the house turn immediately into dust, while the "figments" age?? No answer

Why does the figment grows up to look like an exact copy of Matt, while he's not his son?? Why he even decides to go out to grow in order to trick Kate into bed, as if he knows he'll clone Matt?? Why he reverts back to his teen age when his neck is broken?? Why he immediately shifts his behavior to become adult, confident, and rushing to trick Kate in the upper level scene, then he shifts back to the childish one when the real Matt shows up?

This movie is flawed on all levels. I'll give some little credit for Olga's acting, which was decent (but not spectacular at all).

For me, it was a wasted time.

I don't get it!
7 December 2022
I don't get where the praise come from!

This is a very badly directed and acted show! Almost everyone's acting is disengaging and unconvincing, except Chloë Grace Mortez

Here's my biggest problem! So many reviewers said that the show had a solid start, at least for the first two episodes. I barely pushed myself through the first episode, decided to give the second one a chance, but couldn't complete the first half of the second episode!

If it was only one thing that went wrong enough to ruin the show, then it is the dialogue! It's messy, rushed, unnatural, clunky, and disengaging. Such a cringe!

But that's not just it. CGI (which was also praised) is a college project grade, from the early 2000's! Cinematography is dull, color grading is disturbing (and not in a productive way), and story progression lacks coherence and solidity

If that what's in the first two episodes, which were praised as the good ones, I can't imagine how the rest are! I'm happy that I jumped off early enough this time!

Worse than a low budget superhero trash movie
2 December 2022
I have trouble understanding the praise. Right off the batt, the movie starts with mediocre cinematography, cheap CGI, terrible narration, and subpar acting. But I decided to suspend my irritation and give it a fair chance

Wow, I should trust my intuition much more! The movie turned to be super-cliche super-hero, with some Marvel elements for garnish. Why would Dwayne get himself in such an uniteresting mess!

I expected Sarah Shahi to do much better. Rather she turned out to be one of the major excellence inhibitors in the movie

I know, I know. Many dudes here will rate this review as unuseful. Fine, I understand where you come from. Many youngsters enjoy style so much that they loose interest in quality substance. The problem is that this movie doesn't even have any distinguished style! Many 2000's medium budget movie were much better produced and acted!

Seriously, why!
26 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
From the creators of Dark, this sets some expectations that are somehow met, then shattered like a glass thrown from an airplane by the last scene!

So that's it? After all this mistery creation, suspense building up, and emotional investment, it's just another Matrix??

This series keeps twisting and turning just for the sake of it. Pointless red herrings and misdirections to produce a lot of mindless Oh's without any point at the end. The ending scene is a perfect example of that

It's such an annoyance to see great acting and directing get wasted in such a ridiculous, plotless story. Even though it was painfully stretched in the beginning, it ramped up very nicely by episode 4. I had the feeling that it's going to somewhere, somewhere epic, but the moment I heard the word "simulation" the ice bucket dropped on my bare body. That's it??

What's the point of having a simulation for a spaceship pasangers?? What's the point of all that is happening inside the simulation, all the twists and turns, all the conflicts, the story progression, and the entire incidents?? Nothing really! It all boils down to a ridiculous set of artifical Wow catalysts that come from nowhere and goes to nowhere as well

All the mysteries they cleverly created unfold to NOTHING. The pyramid, the beetle, the boy's silence, the black substance, the grandfather, the cross lingual characters interaction, all wasted

It was such an enjoyable ride that got ruined by irresponsible showmakers decisions

Thank you, in the worst possible tone.

Smile (V) (2022)

What a wasted opportunity!!!
12 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This movie had the specimen of a blockbuster. But it's so unfortunate how it turned out!

It's not 100% original concept. Somewhere around the middle I remembered The Ring passing the curse scheme. Yet it was recreated really well. The director did magnificent job in executing the jump scares and producing overall good cinematography. The "smile" is awesomely awful!

What sells it short? Many things, any of them is enough to ruin the experience. Acting is generally unconvincing, mostly bad. I was absolutely turned off by the prisoner's panic performance. The ending is so predictable. You could see it miles away. But the worst part IMO is that there's almost no backstory to color what is happening. What is that creature? Why is it doing this? Where did it come from? How did it all start? Why does it follow that sequence? Too many questions that answering in a satisfying way could have taken this movie to a masterpiece level

The ending scene is simply a mess. The creature burns, then just like that it is back to invade its victim. The back to ex scent seems just like a twist for the sake of it, but doesn't flow smoothly

Also, characters are inconsistent and their development is rushed.

Overall, the movie lacks coherence and substantiation. You'll watch a bunch of well executed jump scares that do not tie up

Shame, I had such high hopes for it. It's not an absolute regret, but still I'm not satisfied at all.

TERRIBLE piece of crap!
30 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, this thing had a HUGE potential, or so I thought until the last 30 minutes!

Oh boy, I really don't know what to say. This is one of the biggest traps I fell into!

This thing (I wouldn't even dare to call it a movie!) keeps raising questions and building questions, and all of a sudden, poof, nothing happens!

  • Who books the house??

  • What caused double booking??

  • What are these "creatures"??

  • How comes that Tess falls first then she's on her back over that creature!

  • What kind of an idiot holds a torch for a few seconds, more than enough to recognize who's in front of him, then "accidentally" shoots her!

  • What kind of a moron that gets shot in the belly by an a**hole, then she relaxedly tells him: It's ok it wasn't your fault!

  • Ok, Tess get's shot, looses a lot of blood, no first aid of any kind, falls from the forth floor on her back, then she stands up and walks just like that??

  • What's the whole thing with that town?? Why's it such a wreck??

  • What's that thing with everyone knows about the dangerous creature living in for 4 decades in a property owned by a random a**hole, yet no body does anything about it??

All of this is grounded in terrible acting, cringed dialog, no character development, all over the place scenario, zero plausibility, foolish characters decisions, and very unrealistic incidents, just to name a few things gone wrong

I understand that this is the director's debut, fine. But where does all this praise come from??

RUN AWAY.

Ridiculous high tension low budget
23 September 2022
At the first glance I was struck by how bad acting is from the very first scene! But I thought to give it a try, and I wasn't mistaken. I really don't want to spoil anything, but the dialogue and character development are so ridiculous that it turned watching this for over one and a half hour was such a pain!

For some reason, movie industry keep providing us with such low quality material, yet it receives decent overall ratings from the TikTok generation!

Anyways, save your time. Or if bored, buy some seeds, plant them, and stick your eyes to them as they sprout. Way more fun than this piece of cr**!

Was this a joke??

This is one of the most terrible let downs in my life! As I write this the movie scores 6.6 while it's closer to 0.6!

This movie is a set of mindless action sequences grounded in terrible acting by everyone who deliver stupid a** lines with literally no substance!

Go watch 90's Mortal Kombat instead!

Broadchurch (2013–2017)
4/10
Nope

Season 1 only review

Broadchurch is a traditional murder mystery with a lot of dramatization and some social conflicts. It's well shot and acted. However, it's boring as **** and lacks coherent substance

From the very beginning, the show tries very consistently and superficially to misdirect you. Even until the middle of the last episode of Season 1. The problem is that it becomes too redundant that you can see what's coming by eliminating those who're in focus!

Twists have to be well constructed, hinted for in a way to subtle to detect, yet obvious enough to prime the shock. Neither is in Broadchurch! The final twist comes all of a sudden, with no build up. What makes it even worse, is that the murderer's psychology is totally distant from the facts finally revealed. On the other hand, a lot of "suspicious behaviors" come from distractors. This is a very cheap way to create a mystery!

Moreover, there're many totally irrelevant subplots that add absolutely nothing to the plot! The clairvoyant, Alister's sister who show up out of the blue, Nigel's whole subplot, Alec's health issue, his daughter's issue, Becca, Jack Marshal's whole subplot,...

From Episode 1 I was turned off, but decided to give it a chance and watched Episode 2. I only continued to write an honest review

The Season's finale is emotional, in very pushed and unauthentic way! As if the show makers wanted to leave a final impression against the mostly dull and cold atmosphere covering 7.5 episodes! And it obviously worked considering the unexplainable praise and rating!!
