By far the comments here are mostly from U.K and some of them from U.S. I've just finished seeing this film last night and it was the first night it being put on big screen in Taiwan(2007/1/19). And i just can't wait to show my appreciation of this movie right away.
My knowledge of Beatrix Potter might not be so complete as the readers in U.K., but we do have classes of Children's Literature in the department of foreign language department in universities in Taiwan. I read her book by text and having a brief knowledge of the author. Therefore i know a little more than usual Asia audiences who only consume Peter Rabbit's pictures and goods.
It was a exciting experience to see the stories we read being performed and speaking out on the big screen. And it is a drawing interaction to see our knowledge of the history of English Literature being lively acted on the big screen.
Being a reader of children's literature, i simply like the pieces of pure innocent. I think only when the author who has great love toward the life on earth can she or he creates sincere art works. And when she is in grief, her art works would also be in a mess which i think it properly being told in the movie.
Anyway, i love this film. i love its way of molding the author as a timid and usual girl with ordinary rather plain social skills. i hate movies having brilliantly gorgeous heroes, heroines which is far from reality. This is just the right film for who still have a sense and heart of an innocent child within.
