Superbad (2007)
Seth Rogan, you go girl!
This is one of the funniest movies in a long time. A great cast of talented people well place in a dynamite script. A great time to sit in the theater. This is not a chick flick but anyone who was ever a young male, will relate to this great coming of age film. My wife found this humorous most may not feel warm and fuzzy with this film. But trust me, men, boys and the household pet will find this to be one of the finniest films in a long time. The story moves and has several funny funny moments, so many that I lost count. You must see this film, it will take you back to the days when you were in high school and that for some of us was a special time in our life's. See this in the theater it's better when you can other guys laughing. So there you have it a great way to spend some at the theater.
Galaxy Quest (1999)
This is a great movie and I mean it!
My family must have watch this movie a dozen times and it still is great to watch! It has so much to offer my kids and the message of the film is truly wonderful, never give up never surrender!.
The special effects are really clever and I like space movies anyway but the fact that you can tie into this from present day earth is really appealing to me and my kids like it too!
This surely will go down as a classic film for anyone to watch if they like heartfelt story lines and great character development. If your felling a little down and need to be cheered up this is the movie for you!
The cast is well chosen and plays point on for the entire movie. A lot of great laughs and endearing characters make this a must see for any family.
Central State (2006)
Compelling and Interesting look at Central State
I had seen this film last year when it came out at the IMAX. It was a sell out crowd. I really didn't know what to expect but had heard rumors of Central State since I was a child. This place was a mental institution that was closed in the early 1990's. Several stories have circulated about abuse and haunting but I wanted to see first hand what was going on there. The opening of the film the director talks about making family movies and being on the grounds for that purpose when things started to happen to the crew and to the director. The first shot of the face in the curtains is really creepy, it looks like an old man screaming.
I really didn't know much about the history of the place and the old footage form the sixties gave an excellent view into the past of Central State. I didn't know they had all those patients, 3000 or more. some were children, and only nine doctors.
I thought the tunnels were especially interesting, over nine miles of them. I couldn't imagine being in there like they did in the film. That looked very unsettling to me.
I liked all the ghost busting things in the film and the paranormal people were really interesting to watch and were available at the screening to talk with.
I Just went back and saw this again at the IMAX a year later and still found it interesting. I like the way it was edited and the music was really good.
I am a fan of things that are cutting edge and this is a film I think that is cutting edge. I didn't know the DVD was out but I am going to buy it.
EZ Money (2005)
Funny Kids Movie, E-mails who would have thought
This is a funny film by a guy who is making films totally independent from Hollywood. I think the premise is cleaver and the acting smart. My kids are using the lines when we go out to eat and I over hear them playing the roles. My kids are 6 and 8 and very computer savvy, so they got it. This was shot in what looks like a crew person's house and I'm sure around the town. How they got the Jet, I would like to know. This film uses a lot of the actors that have been in his others films which is kind of fun to see. Is this the best movie you'll ever see, no but it's a good fast paced flick and a very cleaver story. Who would have thought somebody would make a movie about that Nigerian e-mail scam. This guys did it and did it well.
The Lil' River Rats and the Adventure of the Lost Treasure (2003)
This was a real surprise for me!!!!
My son got me out of bed on Sunday to watch this with him on cable. He had seen it before and wanted me to watch it with him again. I sat down with him and we watched this together, it was a real treat! It was on early on cable before we went to church, it had a good theme for kids, and parents. It was something we could do together. It was a fun family film. Good scenery, and funny parts through out. I liked the kids in the movie and so did he. The bear scenes were funny and scary to him. But the message of the movie he got. He wants to build a raft now. And go looking for treasure, but we don't live near a river so it's the pool in the backyard. I would recommend this movie to any family.
