The Flash (2023)
Not a flash in the pan
No matter what you read. Make your own decision.
I have to admit, as you can see, I loved it. I think because not only did it reach out to every age with that bonus nostalgia to give it a kick but grounded us in an over saturated genre. Yes, I'm suffering from action hero burnout but Ezra is excellent! He's a great fit over past choices for Flash & generally is there to appeal to a younger crowd then swings around and does more than that. With his screen charm, expressive eyes & illustrious acting, he's fresh take in a character for most holds no more relevance then Green Lantern to other movie goers. Note: movie goers for entertainment not the collectors who watch in detail as I do, but again I am open minded by being able to decide will I watch by the book, enjoy it or play the MCEU game of finding Easter Eggs. Nope, I left the comics & guides locked up and watched it fresh-minded only to find it quite enjoyable. Still keeping that on point wit Ezra's character has, to his strengths and weakness of being a "snack hole" makes him a charm everyone should at least feast on once.
It's graphics, decent storyline and beautifully collaborated moments will bring old and new fans alike together for if only a few minutes - it's worth it!
Grab a good snack and relax. Just enjoy the hard work and know that you will be entertained!
The Fall Guy (2024)
Stuntastic!
To keep it short, I used to watch the tv version when it was first on. TV used to be a family event in most homes but I really thought Ryan & the gang really brought back the fun we need these days! People don't really give credit to the stunt performers as they should. This homage was really a great way to do it with a touch of familiar at the same time. And yes! ... we can forget the Ken persona soo easy!
It was silly, dramatic with clever additives im not going to spoil. Just sit back and enjoy!! Bring your friends, family & even the critters to watch!
So ... Cheers to you .... The crew, the actors and all the royalties Kiss will make!
Priscilla (2023)
Oh Priscilla!
Okay so we have yet another dive into the world of Elivis that either a. A fan will enjoy no matter what or B. Who needs money now? I. This really slow theatrical version of a book that we have heard of before, directed by the underappreciated Sophia, Coppola, tries again to take a shot and another major motion picture. However, I'm sorry Sophia. It's not a hit... the virginal softness and gradual speed or gradual jog, you take telling the story is absolutely dull. You have Elvis doing this, she's doing this, you have them together you have them separated. There is no continuity in time or space of these things arehappening, you have gaps of time of them being together and there are no outside influences coming in except for two clueless worried parents with a small spattering of one or two others but they're insignificant... speed ahead in the movie still drawing to mind the one one that was better than this one was the movie made for TV. That movie, which came out shortly after the book was exactly what TV movies are supposed to be - romantic slapstick lifetime-approved, 3 star rated somewhat of a slow simmered dumpster fire... It's not a pleasurable experience to watch this on the screen. It's not a pleasurable experience to watch this at home. It's basically taking time out of my life that I'll never get back. Sophia there's so much more out there for you!! .. and Priscilla stop , you got enough from Austin Butler playing your ex-husband in a place in time that was not even worthy of an award. I'm sorry but that's just me. The fans will eat this up like it's gravy to a biscuit but for me it's a hard pass. Good luck viewers.,
Mean Girls 2 (2011)
Uhhhhh
Well, it was so bad I couldn't stop it. I didn't know it existed but I was hooked like there was a subliminal message to make me hang in there.
I'm not sure if it was good or bad but it's not really trying to be its own story, just uses lazy writing to hit upon moments from Lindsay's romp through life with the plastics.
Enjoy the movie, just watch it with friends so you can talk about the first one and relive your uncaptured terror of your terrible moments everyone had in high school - yes everyone...
You are lying to yourself if your high school years were perfect. If they were, you wouldn't be sitting here admitting you watched the first one or this one.
Road House (2024)
Yes, an 8
Okay, I'll admit I saw the original in the theater and nothing will top Patrick, but the writer takes Jake on an old road with a twist. Put aside the negative comments, the fact this is a remake & the terrible low budget CGI and JUST WATCH, please. Am@zon has been trying to produce a new batch of movies and this is not a bad edition to the gang. The MMA crew, including a few flashings make some laughs but the best is not the cheesy lines by some picked out of a barrel actors, but Jake's delivery. I can tell who he's been hanging out with & also adding that sneer that he carries off so well each time. Look, it's a movie with a touch of - sorry Vin - the new generation Fast and Furious looks. Sit back, relax. Stop comparing. Pop the corn and kick back. Btw, I'm not sure what the consider spoilers but I checked the box anyway.. "cheers!"
The Amazing Maurice (2022)
Yes, 2.
If it wasn't for Hugh Laurie and an Easter egg, I would pass. To get out of watching it, I colored with my niece as well as read a book then after the movie was over, she was so happy to turn the channel. I guess I was hoping high that it would be a movie like Pets where they go on a fluent rant of trouble other then conjecturing storylines from other books. It's not like I hoped from Mr Pratchett, maybe have started with the one before this or just stay away from this tragedy. He's had other books I've questioned but I'm a fan of his sci-fi so hey why not. This is proof of listening to your inner child. Rest in Peace Sir. You are sorely missed.
Shotgun Wedding (2022)
Why Ryan? Why?
Well, I had to double check, yes folks The Ryan Reynolds produced this flaming pile of porch poop. I think I was 15-30 minutes in when I starting to think, "can I finish this?" Terrible convoluted "action" scenes, hokey script, mismatch dopey couple & another project Coolidge was only thrown in because she's the "it girl" for now. My husband is right here next to me, the one who wanted to watch it mind you, asleep. Snoring. I'd rather listen to him then Jens squeaky voice one more time. I guess it's goofiness should be chalked up to the terrible scripts Jen picks up or shes had wedding fever, but if you want to be respected everyone a part of this including who watched this needs to have this washed from their brains. Sorry!
Ron White: If You Quit Listening, I'll Shut Up (2018)
Welllll..
I guess I'm kinda partial to it because I was there when it was being filmed (ft row mid center) and meeting him was the cherry on top. Watching him on a video, like most artists, is not the same but it has that same Ron White kick. (I'm waiting for another tour of the group l, those I miss the most.)
He covers all subjects.. couples, animals and of-course whiskey! No holds barred - everything is on the table! Little funk and even when you "unfunk", there's something for everyone!
... if you are sensitive to smoke, then it's a great time to gather a few friends and drink responsible. Thanks Ron!
What If...? (2021)
Sit back and relax...
Let your mind wander and think nothing. Let's this show leaving you with the actual question of What If?. Completely enjoyable by being different from the endless cgi movies, it gives you a feeling that there is more out there. I really hope to see more episodes, however, this will not contain one of the many talented voices: Chadwick Boseman, and NO. I just don't hold him as a king of Wakanda, he's a different level of acting. (Rest In Power King Boseman!!) I may of had a twitch of a problem with other extended Marvel projects ... overall this series gets a high score just for its merits of being a series that fans have been waiting for : thought. Enjoy the show!
Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993)
How I love thee
This movie will always have a place in my heart ... I am usually found singing and dancing to the main song "we're men, men in tiiiiights!" When doing dishes, vacuuming or simply standing in a long line before COVID. When it had come out in 1993, i finally dug my head into movies and rented it from blockbuster, a moment one can never forget! So now I watch it several times a year just to enjoy the knock off of Robin Hood: Prince of thieves, which has my wedding song in it. And yes. My peanut gallery requested to play MIT at my wedding. I digress, the comical ways Mel touches on each scene (I mean he moves the mole! The mole!) will keep you in stitches. Sadly this movie, to me, was one of the last funny Brooks film. So if you loved Young Frankenstein or Spaceballs, this is the movie for you any time of the year! The overacting, being able to carry the same accent throughout and a hilarious Sheriff... this movie is a MUST WATCH!!
Let There Be Light (2017)
Kevin is at it again!
Stereotyped priest, Kevin's playing a atheist AGAIN & the storyline is choppy. Then Hannity? I felt I was watching an a-typical PF movie but I could think of was how political they are behind the scenes, I know I shouldn't think about that while watching but I have to admit with his wife as the co-righter and his sons are actually acting, it's a good thing to show that some families can act as well as practice their faith while heartedly.
Best part ... he sees his son. That made it worth finishing the movie. I can relate ... Kevin, I must say, keep up the good work and never forget, What If does happen, I feel we'll be ready!
Ragnarok (2020)
No spoilers, but...okay one.
I have to tell you I love this series... sadly it's ending after its third season. I loved the show. The actors, not overly well known in the US, prove their talent should be shared. Emotionally fired up and well written, this will take you on a new and fantastic journey that some gods have yet to emerge as. I wish this was a 2+ hour movie as well - or instead of. The story and environment keep it realistic without all the Hollywood cgi. Enjoy!
The Many Saints of Newark (2021)
Bravo!
MSofN reminds me of a modern directors look at a cross of Goodfellas & Casino, familiar actors bringing new ones to light. Most movies of this genre leave out other cultures. The black community rises to remind the viewer of what else was happening of these times. So many talented people it's hard to figure out what award goes to whom. One thing I will mention is if Ray Liotta does not win or is even nominated for his part, I'll never understand why he's looked over. Till then enjoy!
Chicago Med (2015)
Sorry guys... it's a ten...
... but actually not. I really miss the whole first season. This season makes me question the need to get sucked back in after the Covid hold. Boom! A doctor, a nurse, ... 1/3 of the crew gone. April, we know is going to go back to school, Dr Choi is on medical leave - which both are working on new projects. But to introduce new characters without a proper introduction to each other changed everything. I'm getting tired of the Maggie/Daughter issue. The only guys whose left and live as an actor is the caring Oliver Platt that reminds us that even doctors have their own demons to battle. To let this show hang on Will Holdsteads frayed string or the militant & arrogant doctors plan is making my ten slowly melt the enjoyment. It was the one show I couldn't live without (like don't call me while it's on) but I just hope the writers will put a spin on it even if he mixes PD (Holsteads brother) and FD again. All one can do it wait ... or hope the producers really read what we say.
