This 'Movie' was awful.
14 March 2009
Uhhh.

OK. I get that Elizabeth Banks is kinda hot. Like 'the one Judd didn't choose'.

And this is obviously a Kevin Smith movie because it only appeals to 13 year old boys. No wonder it bombed at the box office. I like how Smith thought it is still 'pushing the envelope' with boob shots and poop jokes.

It would have had a huge following if it was PG-13. But instead, they thought," lets make it R so that way........uh......'. Exactly! So what?? It sure as hell didn't make me laugh.

I love 'Mallrats' and 'Knocked Up'( I know its not the same writer/director). But the best part of this movie is when the dude from 'Reaper' comes in drunk, rooting for the Steelers. That is the ONLY time I laughed.

Shame on everyone involved in this film.

Wow, A different film, yet, a good one

I know, I know,

This? This movie? Starring Kirk Cameron? Really?

Yeah, Really. I rented this movie on a whim. I saw how it blew up at selected theaters and actually beat out some movies in the weekly top 5 here on IMDb. And I have to say,....not bad.

I know Kirk Cameron is a Christian and loves all things, 'GOD', and this movie reflects that, mostly with the father character who always wants to pray.

However, about 30 minutes into the film, you see Kirk Cameron do some really good acting. Thats really when it takes off. Of course there is the cheesy stuff, like the Christian song montage, but thats not what makes the movie. Its Mr. Cameron. He is really good in this movie. I hadn't seen a whole lot of his movies, but I know him from 'Growing Pains', and as I watched this movie, I really started to like him....not as 'Mike Seaver', but as his character.

I am a mainstream movie fan. I like the box office hits and even the lower comedies. I never thought I would say this, but, Kirk Cameron is one good actor. Only if he would do some more mainstream stuff, ya know? He apparently is very stuck in his ways about how films should be Christianized, but man, he can act.

Well done Kirk, Well done.

Plus, not a bad flick, defiantly worth checking out.

Sandler Sandler Sandler

While it has some funny moments. It has a lot less.

It's one of those movies that would have been great in 1998. But falls short in 2008. Its just the same gimmick that has been done by 'Happy Madison Productions'.

Reminds me of: Chuck and Larry, Strange Wilderness, The Benchwarmers, Dickie Roberts, 50 first dates, Etc.

It's just well.....for lack of a better word. Stupid. It might have you grabbing your sides in 98', but when you watch it, its somewhat like, "OK, let me guess, Rob Schneider is going to pop up and say something dumb with a 'pause for laughter' moment?" Yup.

Is Sandler going to do a stupid voice the whole movie and end on a 'touching theme'?. Yup.

Acting is good, I will give it that. However, if you have seen any Adam Sandler movie, then you won't be surprised with his acting choices. Same choices, different accent.

Nothing against Sandler, his movies were great.......in 98'

I'd wait for DVD,...if that.

Hmmmm

Yeah.......so........hmmmmm. Great actors, great producers, pretty 'OK' director, terrible writing, horrible comedy, and even though 'Dumb and Dumber' was one of the best comedy movies ever made, or at least most successful. It was in the late 90's. This would have lasted 2 season in 98-99. Now, I give it 2-3 more episodes. Which is a bummer because I like everyone who works on this show, but if you throw too much in the pot, its not going to taste good. Again, I have no problem with the talent nor production teams. But someone really sat down, watched it, and said, "This is gold. Lets give 'em and 8 episode deal." Good luck to all the viewers and good luck to the director.

It was OK. Good story and good acting. I did, however watch this title after the 'Oscars'. So I was built up about how great this 'unfamiliar' actor was going to be. Not so much. An Oscar,...really? He just stood there the entire movie. I mean, yeah, he was good, don't get me wrong. I guess I was expecting a riveting performance. And what I got was excellent from everyone except the guy who stood there and flipped a coin. Little peeved about that. But it still gets 7 stars. Watch it if you get a chance. But don't expect a great performance from the Oscar winner. Are they just giving them away? (Tilda was great and 'Juno' was excellent)......You know what I mean.
