The Mentalist (2008)
Predictable story writing
After about 10 episodes in I don't understand the high ratings. Ok, the main character is a smart, good looking, charming guy who knows everything and sees right through every person he meets. That is no new concept. But there may be some chances to develop a nice story or overlaying story arc, even with that shallow premise.
But the writing is so annoyingly predictable. Of course, every episode starts with a murder. After some investigation the detectives have a suspect. Who NEVER is the killer. 5 - 10 minutes later there is a second suspect. He/she is also NEVER the killer. Jane does random Jane-stuff and in the end everybody is amazed how he found the real killer.
Come on, are you so easily satisfied? I am not.
Star Trek: Picard: Watcher (2022)
I like it
Star Trek was always about a positive and compassionate future. And the present time is NOT this utopia. So it is completely legit
when the writers address the current problems. Anyone who is enraged about how the writers dare to not depict the USA as the best thing in the whole wide universe should work on their personal issues.
Goliath: It's Donald (2016)
Is it a radio play?
I really like the series. But the lighting couldn't have been made any darker. I can hardly see anything sometimes. It's a shame. You got wonderful actors and you just can't see them act.
Vikings (2013)
Hipster Vikings
Clearly in the early Middle Ages viking women had access to lots of make-up and men routinely shaved their armpits and torsos. I didn't know that until now. Thank you internet!
Apart from that (and that greasy, annoying Ragnar Loveboat) it's a decent show when seen as fantasy, not history based.
