Sherwood (2022)
Not a who-dunnit, but a why-dunnit with twists along the way
I highly recommend Sherwood if you haven't seen it. All episodes on iplayer. Not a whodunnit, but more of a why dunnit, with extra twists thrown in. I learned an awful lot watching this drama, about Spy Cops the Tories put out there from the late 60's up until 2010! Brilliant cast, amazing acting. Worth the watch. Binged over two nights. Wanted more.
The Sister (2020)
Wanted to love it = Russell Tovey - But no. Spoilers contained.
I didn't catch the book. However was really looking forward to this, because of the amazing Russell Tovey - he did not disappoint.
I figured out what was going to happen after the first car sequence with Bob Nathan and Elise. It was dragged out, each piece of dialogue as if in slow mo. This show could have been told in two, 75 min episodes.
The director worked poor Russell Tovey like a crying machine, poor Russell, screeching, wailing and weeping in almost every scene. It wasn't his fault, he was pretty amazing all being said.
No suspense at all.
Some questions left unanswered. how did Elise knock on exes window? Not explained. Wouldn't it have been scarier in final scene ep 4 to have Bob in the back seat instead of Elise. That didn't make sense having Elise.
Could have been great, my 15 year old son, who writes, said I could have done so much better. I agree. A waste of our 4 hours.
The Deceived (2020)
Beautiful scenery, cliche plot, cliche dialogue, cliche storyline and acting. SWERVE
How they got the money to make this is beyond belief. The story feels likes its a truly bad adaptation of an 19th century novel. You see every twist coming from a mile away. Not spooky, just throw away scenes, words and actors.
I wanted to like this. But nothing about it is appealing except for the views. Gosh, Ireland is beautiful, even in the winter. The leads, well, egads, not great.
This show fails on every level.
King Gary (2018)
Very Funny
We downloaded the pilot because we missed it last year. I am so glad that we did. King Gary's pacing, humour and dialogue are fabulous. We laughed so hard. I have to say that Tom's complete dedication to King Gary, made it all fly. It is like he's stuck in another era, and the outsiders looking in, raise their eyebrows, and look on in disbelief at this larger than life character. Fabulous, can't wait for the beginning of this series, which airs this eve. Great cast too. Good luck guys 10PM BBC1 Friday's, I hope you fly, we all need some light relief, and this is certainly it for our family.
