Agent Jade Black (2020)
Not Awful, But Not Good
Agent Jade Black somehow isn't the worst movie I've seen in the year of 2020. That would have to go to something even stupider like All the Freckles in the World or some crap. But this films low budget can limit how good it is, some of the sound effects are pretty bad, the performances aren't good, I mean maybe whoever plays Jade is good at times, but this film has poor actors. Some of the music sounds like some stock copyright free crap you would see in a YouTube video. There are other low budget films that have good music, like King Candy, so don't say it's because their budget is small. The intentions of the villains are kind of confusing, like they kill people but their also trying to end the organization that Jade works for and they do other stuff, it's confusing. Overall it isn't bad but it ain't good.
Marriage Story (2019)
One of the Best Films of the Decade
Marriage Story is one of the best films of 2019, and if anyone said this was their movie of the year, I would understand completely. This movie is a work of art in every meaning of the word, it makes the audience sit through this realistic take on a divorce. I live how a simple line of dialogue could change the story completely, theres literally a scene where one guy talks about how big LA is and it changes everything. The editing and casting is flawless, Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson both prove that their more than just action figures and give one of the best performances of the year, and I believe Scarlett deserves Best Actress at the Oscar's this year. By far a film that gets better as time goes by. The only thing holding it down is some annoying dialogue from Adam Driver's coworkers at his theater where he writes plays.
The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019)
Disgustingly Awful
The Angry Birds Movie 2 is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Never before have I ever been so angry over a film made by a well known and well funded studio. One joke is literally the Bomb guy eating a tub of pig snot, are you kidding me. I look at the reviews for this movie and they all are the same thing "10/10 so funny haha take your kids" but since I'm not a parent I won't compliment a film just because "Little Timmy really liked it." Also if The Angry Birds Movie 2 had you laughing so hard that you couldn't breath, please start watching actual comedy, I'd rather watch SNL than this. Really, all I can say is.. who asked for this? Really, name one teenage or adult person who wanted a sequel to The Angry Birds Movie. I swear to you theres a scene of a pig dabbing, that's the level we're on. The only reason this isn't a 1/10 is because the animators seem to actually care about this movie, unlike whoever wrote this.
Norm of the North: Keys to the Kingdom (2018)
Worst Film of 2019
2016's Norm of the North is a film that never EVER needed a sequel, it was a pile of garbage that every film critic on the internet knew and hated, so why, WHY? Make a sequel?!
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
All Hail the King
The MonsterVerse so far has not disappointed me. The first Godzilla film from 2014 left me wanting more in a good way, and 2017's Kong: Skull Island gave me an entertaining movie about giant monsters fighting each other. Now that the sequel to 2014's Godzilla has been released, I can happily say it did not disappoint.
Usually Godzilla films are seen as "dumb" and while I agree that a lot of them are bad, some of them can impress me. With that said, this film shows me a new world where these "Titans" are put into the real world. I liked all the performances in here, the action was breathtaking, the CGI was great and so were the sets. Unfortunately this film feels like it's trying to shove in winks and nods to the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong crossover which can stop the movie and advertise the next one. Also even though Ghidorah is awesome, it feels like he doesn't live up to what we were promised, he does SOME cool stuff and then gets other monsters to do stuff for him. Still I can't say the movie made me mad and I will gladly watch it again.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
The End of a Saga, and the Beginning for Another
Avengers: Endgame is quite possibly the most hyped up movie of all time. The excitement surrounding this films release is a dream come true for Marvel Studios and Disney. With that being said, I have looked forward to this film since it was called Infinity War Part 2 back in 2015 or so. I really enjoyed my time watching this and it marked the end of an era. I finally realized a couple years ago how much the MCU means to me and how much these characters mean to me that I gladly would accept anything this movie did.
The CGI was good, but the green screen showed a little bit (meaning the backgrounds looked fake sometimes), the performances from Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans were great because they treated this movie seriously, the cameos in here felt welcomed and the amount of locations in this movie really make it feel like the Avengers are desperate to go anywhere and do anything to save their fallen friends. With all this being said this is a very well made movie worth your time and money.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
It's an Ending For Sure
The Skywalker Saga has finally come to a close and I have to say this movie isn't great, but isn't bad. I can't say I loved it but I would watch it again if given the opportunity. The Rise of Skywalker tried to end not just a trilogy but an entire saga, which doesn't always go so well, many people can agree Back to the Future Part III is the weakest one, or The Godfather Part III is the weakest film in that series, even Return of the Jedi (which was supposed to be the last movie) was the weakest in the original trilogy. What I an saying is it's not easy to end something, is that an excuse? No. But I wasn't expecting the best movie ever like everyone else. This film definitely appeals to fan theories and caters to what fans wanted after The Force Awakens, making this movie look like damage control for The Last Jedi, a movie at least half of the audience liked. I guess the CGI, acting, action and final scenes are pretty great, but I think Star Wars needs to take a break for now.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Fantastic
I'm not going to lie, I like Disney Star Wars. Sure not every decision Disney has made with the franchise is good, but I can proudly say The Mandalorian is the best Star Wars show since Clone Wars. The sound effects, puppets, costumes, score, acting and action are all pretty spot-on if not perfect. Every episode felt like a ride and hopefully Season 2 can live up to this Season.
