Scrubs: My Last Words (2009)
One Of My All-Time Favorite Scrubs Episodes
I truly think this episode of Scrubs doesn't get a lot of recognition of being one of the best ones. Maybe its because it didn't have a lot of comedic elements but also did not have one of those emotional moments either, such as the ones in My Screwup or My Lunch.
Bottom line is this: Out of the eight seasons of Scrubs (yes, I said eight...deal with it), this episode deserves much more fanfare than what it gets. There's no make-or-break moment but it is simple and straightforward.
Awesome. A real treat. George Valentine, FTW. He ranks right up there with other Scrubs patients such as Mrs. Wilk, Jill Tracy, and other memorable patients.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Authority (2008)
Doesn't get much better than this
SVU is a staple of not only NBC and its affiliates, but also the crime drama genre. With that being said, this episode of SVU is one of the best, if not the best, episode that I have EVER seen.
It's always nice to see famous guest stars on SVU and seeing Robin Williams planted into this episode was a nice gesture. It also turned out to be a brilliant casting move. Williams absolutely steals the show as a deranged sociopath who resists authority every step of the way.
Twists and turns at every corner, right up until the climax of the episode and even with a few minutes to spare in the hour slot.
Again, this is one of the best SVU episodes I have ever seen, along with "911" and "Raw".
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Birthright (2004)
Great. That's all there is to say.
I have been a fan of SVU for a long time now. I haven't necessarily seen all the episodes due to other conflicts but I'm working on it. I chose to watch this one last night because the summary on IMDb seemed pretty intense. Boy, was it right.
A potential kidnapping turns into a private investigation which leads to a con man doctor which then leads to a real snatching of a kid which then leads to a custody fight. I think that sums it up pretty nicely.
But, the real stars of the show are the guest stars. We all know about the abilities of Meloni, Hargitay, Florek, etc. But, the people who really stole the spotlight were Lea Thompson, who plays Michelle Osborne and Abigail Breslin, who plays little Patty Branson. Both are very convincing, especially Breslin and the freaked-out-of-her-mind character she is portraying. Thompson is also very hard-nosed as the 'mother' of Breslin's character. This is evident during a jail house meeting scene in about the middle of the episode.
Watch. This. Episode.
Field of Dreams (1989)
"He's Plowing Over His Corn! Da*n Fool!"
"Field of Dreams" is by far one of the best sports movies ever made and maybe the best. It is a timeless tale of family, spirit, believing, and of course baseball.
Kevin Costner is astounding in the role of Ray Kinsella, a farming family-man in Iowa who hears a strange and now iconic voice telling him to build a baseball in his corn field. The field is built and magically, baseball legends from the past, mainly the 1919 "Black Sox" team appear right in front of Ray's eyes. But, there is something more than just building a field to Ray as the voice keeps whispering signals to him.
Amy Madigan plays Anne Kinsella, Ray's wife and supporter of his dreams. She is stout, sarcastic, and is portrayed pretty well by Madigan.
James Earl Jones portrays Terrence Mann, a novelist from the 1960's who befriends Ray after a previous, nearly violent encounter.
If you are sports fan and a movie fan alike, this movie comes highly recommended from everyone who has watched it. It is timeless. It is awesome. Its a grand slam!
