Ronnie O'Sullivan: The Edge of Everything (2023)
A game of 2 half's
I thought the first half of this documentary was just filler. Took 20 minutes for it to even get going. I was confused as to what this documentary set out to do. It ended up being a review of the 2022 world championship review with behind the scene footage.
Big Ronnie fan but I felt the documentary was executed poorly. Like I say it did get better but that first hour was just painful of unnecessary filler and no actual content of learning something new about him.
I expect this score that is currently above 8 to settle down to around 7. Finished the documentary feeling shortchanged.
Oh well.
Licorice Pizza (2021)
Erm....
Every year theres a group of films that the elite media critics will tell you is excellent, a masterpiece, a can't be missed movie but is actually....let's be franks....rubbish. This is one of them movies. Soundtrack brilliant. The plot....erm. Constantly waiting for something to happen, flitting from sub plot to sub plot, with no resolution to either of them. As the great David Bowie lyrics said "But the film is a saddening bore"
A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
So disappointed
So many things just don't make sense. They know how to kill the creatures from episode 1 and use this method again at the start of episode 2 but refuse to use this method again for the rest of the film despite numerous attempts to do so. And then at the end they use that method. Shocking. Just dragging out a movie that make zero sense.
Marcus Abbott going for a walk around, again for no specific reason and a young lad wouldn't do if he was in these circumstances, leaving his younger sibling helpless.
I understand this is a sci ti movie but it still has to make sense.
Superman Returns (2006)
Why is this film so poorly rated
First time I've reviewed a film on here although I score a lot but I fell I have to "stick up" for this great film. It continues on from the previous Christopher Reeve films and stays true to that version and it's values.
I have watched it multiple times and likely to watch it a few more in the future. Even tho, obviously, the actors are different it modes to distract from another great sequel.
The soundtrack again remains true to the original which gives it that authentic feel.
Great film. If your in two minds about watching this because of the score. Don't. It's far better than a 6 out of 10.
