Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Boring... more like Star Dreck.
I've been a huge fan of all Star Trek since childhood. I remember when TNG first came on TV and I was blown away, it instantly became my favourite show.
Fast forward a few decades and we now have this modern revamped trash. It feels soulless, there's just nothing new here. Sure, it looks better, but the characters are just dull.
I'm not a fan of modern Trek at all, it's just not got the same vibe. And Spock is best played by Nimoy, no modern actor can play the character well.
Couldn't make it through the last episode I watched, just didn't care about it. Now watching the Orville again, as it's more Trek than modern Star Trek.
Bridgerton (2020)
Awful production...
Yeah, pretty much what everyone else is saying here. Every show these days has to make a statement, but I'd rather remember the past and the vile attitudes people of that time had. I don't want to see it glossed over like it never happened... what next? A WW2 movie where the holocaust never happened and everyone just gets along?
Plus the production on this series is a joke. Anyone else notice the yellow lines and parking bays on the road in the first episode!? Lol! How on Earth did that get through post.
The CGI cities look like an Xbox game, very flat and unrealistic lighting.
As for the story and acting... yawn. I'd need to be paid a large sum of money to sit through the rest of this drivel.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Just a mess...
I really don't know where to begin with this... I should firstly mention that there are spoilers.
Since JJ took over, the movies have been terrible. Like really terrible. I know I have to suspend disbelief in most movies, but JJ takes it to extremes. In the Force Awakens, we had a bigger Death Star destroy a whole solar system... while people watched from the surface of other planets in other solar systems!? To say it was dumb would be an understatement... such an event would take years to reach other systems, and they wouldn't be able to see it!
This movie takes it to a new level of stupidity. JJ said to his past self "hold my beer, I can do worse". We are supposed to believe that the Emperor has come back from the dead, somehow built a huge fleet of ships(manned by who?), each now fitted with a Death Star style planet destroying cannon! Not bad for a dead man eh?
Carrie Fisher was just jammed into the movie... it was painfully obvious that she was dead when this movie was made because none of her lines seem to fit into any context. It's just weird, they should have killed off Leia in the last movie. Oh they nearly did, but she turned into superwoman and flew back into the ship from the cold vacuum of space. Didn't know jedis had those powers... sigh.
Talking about jedi powers, Luke now has the ability to come back from the dead and catch a lightsabre. And Rae and Kylo Ren seem to be able to pass items to each other using the force as some sort of teleporter technology. It's all very odd, and quite dumb.
Overall the movie was a complete mess. Lots of lightsabres getting thrown away, just to be picked up again a few minutes later. It sucked, and is an insult to the original trilogy.
See You Yesterday (2019)
If idiots invented time travel...
Literally the dumbest time travel movie I have ever seen. The characters are complete morons, making bad impulsive decisions all the time. And the ending... it doesn't have one. Just cuts out so you don't get to find out if they fix it or not.
The first time they travel back, the girl uses their new found time travel powers to throw a slushy at an ex boyfriend. Potentially creating a time paradox that could destroy the universe. Smart move.
At one point the girl's brother dies. It takes her several days to realise "OMG I have invented time travel, I could fix this". Duh... you think?
It was just so dumb all the time, I couldn't stand it. Nobody thought that she could just call her brother on the phone! Tell him she's in trouble somewhere, ask for help. Then they wouldn't be there to get shot. Easy! 1000 other ways to solve this idiotic movie, but they just didn't bother.
If you have a bit of time to kill, there are way better options on Netflix. This will leave you disappointed.
