Titanic (1997)

Still deciding on what I thought about it
6 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Recently, I was asked what is the greatest love story/film of all time. I said it was "The Notebook," and they all said, "No, it's Titanic!" I'd never seen Titanic, I never had gotten around to it and it seemed slightly boring. So I sat down and watched it with my sister when it was on the TV. There were laughs in it, but I'm not such a fan for tearjerkers such as this one.

The score was very good, there were beautiful pieces of music throughout. I normally love tearjerkers, but this one was just too much for me. *spoilers* of course I knew what was going to happen, it's practically general knowledge! When Jack died in the water, I was too overwhelmed and I became stressed. Later on, the same scene running through my mind, I threw up and had a brief panic attack. I wasn't over reacting, but it was much too overwhelming for me, even though I'm not that much of a sensitive person.

I still respect everyone else's opinions, such as 'It's an epic movie of our millennium,' etc. But it was an extremely emotional film and I'll never be able to watch it again, because it did affect me too much, seeing as one of my much older relatives, died on the Titanic. To watch it again, for some people, it can even be upsettingly painful. But you do like epic, tragic love stories, this is definitely the one to see.

Hairspray (2007)

A sight for sore eyes!
6 January 2008
I went to see this with my entire family- my parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers. The only reason I didn't protest to going, was that I knew Zac Efron looked FIT in it! (I'm a fourteen year old girl). My family are like the Von Trapps so they like any film with fun music in it. About ten minutes into the film, we had some good laughs from it, and John Travolta's performance is exceptional! It was a fun film and at one point, I turned around to the audience, and there was no one who wasn't smiling. I ended up buying the soundtrack and I know every single word from it. It is a must see film, but plenty of my friends hated it, as they thought it was too much like The Brady Bunch. The musical score was Fantastic with a capital F! The lyrics were great as well. No one could've played the role of Tracy Turnblad than newcomer, Nikki Blonskey. There was great chemistry in it, and it surprised me what a great cast it was! And also the actors could sing really well, for instance James Marsden was an excellent singer in this. I would warn people who are disinterested in musicals to skip out this one, because you could hate it. It's a pleasure to watch and it really is a top film.

I Felt Violated
8 September 2007
As a teenager- I enjoy cheesy pre-teen films- just for the laugh. However, after I saw this- I felt violated. Girls at that age never say 'OMG' or 'BFF'. There is cheesy and just stupid! I also think it sends out a really bad message to pre-teens or younger girls; all these girls are too pretty and no one can be so popular and likable and it happens that they all get guys. I can't think of a worse film I've seen, and I've seen a lot of crappy films. The acting was rubbish and the actresses who are supposed to be 16 or 17 actually look like they are 30! And what I hated most of all was how unrealistic it was; it just happened that they could all sing, dance, and bake! And it so happens that they are all pretty. Whoever would watch this film more than once should be shot! Don't watch it unless you want to waste two hours of your life...

She's the Man (2006)

Cute film
12 August 2006
When I first rented this out..I wasn't so ecstatic to watch it, I just decided to take a shot at it and see what it was like, but over a short period of time, I quickly changed my mind. There are cute bits of humor in it, along with a good story line inspired by 'Twelfth Night' by William Shakespeare. Of course many people would've preferred Shakespeare's version, but this remake is worth a look.

I was looking forward to see how it turned out, but I was slightly disappointed by the last twenty minutes. It seemed cheesy, and it could've been improved. All in all it's a cute movie with an edge, and it's worth a look...although if you're an adult you might not enjoy it.

Stormbreaker (2006)

A bitter disappointment for Stormbreaker fans
22 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
From this film, I've learned that movies can never live up to the books. It's hard to tell whether people who didn't read the books liked it. It was much of a disappointment for me, a huge fan of the books. Some of the scenes weren't put in that were my favourite scenes in the books, and there were extra scenes, which were ridiculous. The screenplay was done by Anthony Horovitz himself, so I thought that maybe it might be like the book, but it was far from the book.

I have to say fair play to Alex Pettyfer for doing his most of his own stunts. Mrs Jones was nothing like what I expected, and Mr. Blunt in the books was supposed be dull, and boring but in this, he was just like as if he was trying too hard. I was so annoyed that Sabina Pleasure was put in the first film, because, she's not supposed to come into Alex's life until the third book 'Skeleton Key'. The person who I actually thought suited their character perfectly was Ashley Walters who played Wolf. I was SO disappointed that Yassen was red headed! I was confused also because there was a 'Mr. Crawley' in the book, but in this film they changed it to 'Crawford'. Nadia Vole was strange, I wasn't sure if Missi Pyle was good for the role. Alicia Silverstone was completely fake in this film, which is a shame because she's normally a great actress. This film would be scary and intense for little kids, but for the fans of the books, I wouldn't say it will live up to your expectations...

Flightplan (2005)
8/10
This film is not for people who enjoy serious thrillers....this was a fantastic mini thriller to get you on the edge of your seat!
23 June 2006
Honestly, I never watch thrillers, they're not enjoyable for me, so I was basically forced to watch Flightplan with my family. I thought it would be crap, yet I'm wrong about most movies. It was brilliant for me, full of suspense, tensity and excitement. For people who enjoy real scary stuff like Creep and The Blair Witch Project, they hate these type of thrillers, but for me they were made for people who have never seen thrillers before, and this was the perfect film to start off the cycle with. To be honest, I got freaked out during the film as well, there were lots of jumpy moments here and there. Don't think that you're going to enjoy this film as a guarantee, if you're used to real scary stuff then don't bother watching it. But if you're not a fan of thrillers, then I suggest you watch this one, cause you might want to watch more after this...

The Notebook (2004)
10/10
This film was the best I've seen in years!
20 June 2006
Basically all romantic films I've seen have been annoying because it didn't seem realistic and there wasn't the magic in the air that I always hope for. This film was all about the magic of romance that hasn't been created in movies.

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were fantastic in this movie, the chemistry was believable, and a good plot line lay beneath it all. I had seen a music video by Nickelback called Far Away for The Notebook. I watched it and it made me want to see it so badly. Unfortunately I looked up internet spoilers on the internet, and saw how it ended. was dreading the ending because it was sweet, romantic, and overall sad. There is also humor in parts of it too. It is a must see, maybe even a must buy!

I recommend it.

Friends (1994–2004)

Don't listen to the people who don't like this show, cause they have no taste...
19 June 2006
I've read a lot of comments on this page saying that friends is crap....DON'T LISTEN TO THEM!

There are so few television programmes that are actually great. Will and Grace, been there and done that rubbish! I didn't get it and it was different kind of funny. When I watched Friends, I started watching it all the time! It's got it's own unique humor to it and I find it hilarious. I have to say, I didn't like the last episode AT ALL because it was ending. To be honest, I started crying when it was over! It is something definitely worth watching and something I always want to see it over and over again, even if I've seen the episode a thousand times. This sitcom comedy is for people who enjoy actual good humor.

Definitely worth watching!
