Houseguest (1995)
See it a bunch of times
I have to say, when I first saw the movie, I thought it was incredibly dumb. After about the third time, I thought it was so funny. It gets more amusing the more often you watch it. It's sort of like that song that you think sucks the first few times you hear it, and then you listen to it a few more times, and it sounds a little better, and then after about a month, you really like it. Sinbad and Phil Hartman play off each other very well, and amongst the stupidity, there's a light hearted lesson in friendship and the ability of people to change. I don't know how much more I can write about the movie without going into spoilers, but just go out and rent it.
Blood Beat (1983)
What?
I saw this movie in my teen years. And I would tell you how I felt about it if I had any idea what in the hell the plotline was. I saw the tagline on this website and I understood more about this movie than when I actually saw the movie. Still, I think that's what made it so memorable.
Yellowbeard (1983)
I have to find this on video!!!!
I haven't seen it this movie in years and I still find myself quoting it! This movie is so clever, so sidesplitting, so hilarious. I gotta find it on video somewhere! My favorite line (don't worry, I won't finish it)... "If you don't tell me where it is...."
Doragon Bôru Zetto Ora no Gohan o Kaese!! (1989)
The best DBZ movie
First let me say that compared to the other Dragonball Z movies, Dead Zone is the only one which can possibly fit in with the timeline set by the episodes. It takes place before the series, and thus runs no risk of contradicting anything. Although the translations of Japanese animation into English is usually poor, I found the character of Goku to be, as always, the perfect combination of super hero and down to earth dad. Gohan's hidden power, which even Goku is unaware of at this time, is amazing, and he is definitely his father's son in the way that it comes out when his friends and loved ones are suffering. A must see for DBZ fans.
The Money Hole (1993)
Amusing and enjoyable at times, it was ok...
I rented it with my girlfriend at the time. Some sex scenes were very hot, others were frightening, others were just plain laughable. But it was all in good fun. The couple selling the house probably had the best scene, and the two handywomen were the most laughable. But it was ok.
