Somehow manages to destroy characters even more
28 April 2022
I can't believe this short actually makes Lisa say that Homer had never been a fan of her passion nor cared about her music. If you can't remember (seeing as the writers haven't) Homer actually brought Lisa her instrument and in quite a few episodes he goes out of his way to try and help her with her musical talent. Sure, he may not understand it but does he support her? Absolutely. Does he care about her music? Yes, very much so. Lisa is one of the few people he will ignore his selfish desires for, especially when it comes to her passion of music (at least, until the new seasons decided that Homer did not need a character apart from "jerk").

Billie also sucks. Her music sucks, she sucks, and her voice acting sucks. Why is she even in the episode? Because these idiot writers can't help but drool over the prospect of ANOTHER celebrity bumping up their ratings.

It is not as bad as Lisa Goes Gaga, but close to.

A CBBC show could do, and is, better
17 April 2022
Why does this episode have the production of a CBBC sci-fi drama? Actually I won't be so harsh - CBBC shows are much better than whatever this was.

Where to start? CGI is distractingly horrendous (how can they mess up the use of a green screen? I will never know), the writing could be better done by my Nan who has never watched Doctor Who in her life, and every character makes me want to punt them across the room and away from what they are calling "Dr Who".

This isn't Dr Who. This is incompetency at its finest, the perfect storm. All blended together in this mess of an episode. I give up. I'm glad Davis is returning, he can save the show from its abysmal hell it's come to.

Don't waste your time. Watch whatever is on CBBC. Trust me, it's better.

Amazing
1 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I usually am so critical of everything but this, for me, was better than the actual movie. Every emotional beat hit, and the daunting and doomed ending of his actions, accompanied with Strange's mutterings of regret, AND the beautiful violin score really made this episode my favourite.

Not every mistake can be fixed. As much as I like the first few episodes, it's shown them overcoming the problem in the same way. This episode has a much darker and realistic ending where we are forced to watch the world literally fall apart and listen to the villain's regret as he is now alone due to his own arrogance and stubbornness.

Everything about this episode is beautiful. Music, visuals and story. Absolutely breathtaking.

Rushed but lots of potential
11 August 2021
The show does have good potential, and the animation was great. It was interesting to see this different angle, however this first episode struggled from a short run time. The emotional beats did not hit because they were resolved too quickly, so there was no tension throughout. Additionally, the story just didn't appeal to me, the concept never peaked my interest as they didn't do anything particularly new with it.

However, hopefully now that introductions are out of the way they can dedicate more time to the episode itself rather than the Watcher. Really, the rushed nature of the episode was a major downfall for me.

Everything was fine until the Dragon talked.
10 March 2021
Literally the movie started good, was excited, but the dragon and her annoying character shifted the tone entirely into another goofy by-the-numbers movie. It would have been much better if the dragon didn't talk, like the horse in Spirit (a far better film btw) and emotions were expressed in facial expressions. The dragon was stupidly designed and written, and why does she sound so american??? It makes no sense and is really jarring for me. A meh movie, lost potential all over.

Insane in the Best Way
23 February 2021
Before anyone says with their noses in the air, this movie is meant to be insane and nonsensical. Who is the Janitor? We don't know. Why can he kick ass? We don't know. And why does he like Punch so much? We don't know. The satanic ritual that brought the robots to life is supposed to be stupid and cliche - it's mocking the trope. This was obvious in the way the lines were delivered, and how ALL of the characters knew so much in extensive detail despite not being alive at the time. This movie is a parody of movies, but still has much better characters than what Hollywood offers these days. And so what if it's a little insane? I think that's exactly what is needed in a movie like this - insanity and ridiculous self-awareness. Perfect.

Lazy
27 December 2020
What the title says. Lazy and clearly no effort was made. I've wasted 2.5 hours of my life watching the movie, I'm not wasting anymore trying to find the words for how bad this movie was. Lazy sums it up

Wolfwalkers (2020)

It was Ok, not Brilliant.
10 November 2020
Title says it all. Doesn't deserve an 8, the characters are supposed to be charming but they come off as annoying, the plot is cliche in lots of places. Despite this, the backgrounds are nice, and so is the music - though unfortunately the plot lacks a little, and sometimes the character designs don't work with the backgrounds in some places. So, the good parts? Designs were creative for the wolves, the villain was well designed, the music was great and the opening was gripping. The ending, though cliche, is satisfying and opens up many possibilities. The bad parts? Like I said, plot is quite an issue as I could see the ending miles away. After the amazing opening, the pace and story lacks for a good portion of the movie, losing the magic it held at the beginning in favour of some annoying characters chasing each other. Whilst we are on the subject, the characters. The characters, or one in particular, are a major set back from making this movie from good to great. Mebh was the root of this I think. Her enthusiastic attitude gets old real fast, already having been used to death before. Whereas the opening portrayed her as being silent, she's very sassy and loud mouthed - I would've much preferred a silent Mebh, as this adds an element of mystery and fantasy. It just ruined it for me. The other characters are okay, Robin's dad was the most likeable, Robin not so much but I could see why they chose that. The villain was good, keeping a mysterious, intimidating feel keeping me engaged with scenes he was in. Overall, a mediocre movie that has lots of potential and sometimes reaches that potential, but often it is sadly too little too late. The Breadwinner and Song of the Sea were far better. However, if you like fantasy revolving around animals, and are a fan of animation, it's worth the watch. I am a fan of animation and was in awe at lots of the backgrounds and long shots. Like I said, by far the best part of the movie. So yeah. Mediocre. At time of writing it stands at 8.3, which I think is far too high (but only 257 have reviewed)
