I am Kajal, and i am a hardcore cinephile!! I just don’t watch the content for the sheer entertainment, i am mostly studying every aspect of it. Not from the Entertainment industry, but i am pretty good at it. Thats what he said. ;)

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (2024)
Too pleasant to the eyes, too dreary at the same time!
Heermandi, just like any other Sanjay Leela Bhansali's work, is nothing short
of grandeur, extravagant sets & such immaculately designed costumes. SLB is a master of details, handsdown!! Its a period Drama, based on the life of courtesans and their contribution towards the independence of our country. Infact, its a fitting homage to them. Kudos to Bhansali sir for bringinig such lost topic to light. Cinematography, music & aesthetics are all the highs of this quintessential series.
SLBs relative Sharmin Segal, her features instantly reminds me of a Pakistani Actress Sanam Saeed, who unlike Sharmin, is really talented. Sharmin looks fine but is utterly expressionless. A powerful performance by Manisha koirala, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Richa Chaddha, Sonakshi Sinha. Aditi Rao Hyadri is breathtakingly beautiful as always. Taaha Shah has a done a great job, both as an actor and as a thirst trap. All the supporting actors have done good work as well, no doubt about that. Indresh Malik as Ustaad was brilliant.
There are three storyline running simultaneously, which makes the narrative bit flawed, weak & confusing due such sudden shifts in the plot throughout. Also the series is almost 8hrs long which is quite dragging for no rhyme or reason. Overall, its too pleasing for the eyes, but too dreary at the same time. Lot of great talents were underutilized. Its a decent watch, only if you can keep up the slow paced screenplay.
Shaitaan (2024)
Over hyped and utterly disappointing!!!
A BAD remake of a Gujrati film "Vash", which was atleast a captivating thriller. As a horror/Thriller genre fan, its a total FLOP SHOW for me. I am offended! Director Vikas Bahl tried his best to make a nail biting, gripping, horror-suspense movie, but it was a total waste of time. Movie is a cliche, illogical and definitely predictable.
I was personally so excited about the plot based on Black magic, but it turned out to be a full fledged comedy show. A majorly disappointing narrative, wrapped with AMAZING ACTING by R Madhavan, Ajay Devgan & newbie Janki Bodiwala.
Climax was the worst of all, Madhvan's character had no story, it was utterly cringe. No explaination or back story given to his modus operandi, makes the movie a flawed piece of work. Director could have done so much more, make it more realistic, with such great talented actors in hand, he made nothing but a crap!
Movie is extremely overhyped, if you're a weak hearted person, this might give you a little chill, but thats on you, this one is a sheer waste of time.
Bollywood tried being cool and doing something different, but ended up making something trashy. It will be streamed on Netflix in, you can avoid watching this one there as well.
Hi Nanna (2023)
Warms Your Heart!
It is one of the best MUST WATCH romantic-drama film! Shouryuv has not only done a commendable job as a writer, but what a direction! He has a beautiful way of storytelling, and almost filled with suspenses! How humbly the movie revolves around love in all forms, it is vulnerable and so strong at the same time! I am in love with the story, but Murnal Thakur has aced in acting. You crumble down to witness the whistle podu performance. Nani's character again is worth the hype. I am short of words to describe that the cinema's enthralling effect over me. Movie like this makes you believe in the power of Good acting, Good story. You dont need mega stars to make it a hit! Go watch Hi Nanna(Telgu)/Hi Papa(Hindi), for the sheer love of cinema in the purest form!
Sam Bahadur (2023)
Vicky Kaushal or Sam Manekshaw? Hard to Tell!
1. Based on a real life story of India's first field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, our true hero. And the fact that the film did not have any junior artists but instead real-life army personnel and people from the Defence Force makes it praise worthy. Meghna Gulzar did a tremendous job by fitting in 5 decades of Sam in the movie in a span of150minutes, cautiously written, and well shot!
Except for the role of Indira Gandhi played by Fatima Sana Shaikh which was an extreme mismatch, with bad acting, every other casting was on point!
3. A movie made on war and Indian army will definitely gives you a sense of pride and makes you feel more patriotic but what Sambahadur does is much more. It makes you happy & inspired. Its light hearted yet hits the bullseye!
4. Vicky Kaushal has outdone himself!! He deserves characer of Sam. His dialogue de they otty language, personality will make you feel he is the reincarnated version of Sam Manekshaw himself! Such fitting tribute to the legend and the Indian army, I take a bow!!
5. If youre looking for good Cinema, great acting, this is the one. But if you're not into this genre, or if you're someone who gets easily bored by History, then you can skip!
Animal (2023)
Brilliant Actor, Bad Film!
I am not sure if this film even qualifies to be called as a "Film".
' It doesnt have a cohesive storyline, its not even a proper montage. But its true to the name ANIMAL, bcz the violence, the gunshots and the blood shed is not for the weak heart!
2. Fair Warning: If you're someone who gets easily influenced by a filmy character, you should drop the plan to see this film, first go, and see a Psychiatrist,
no cap!
3. Filled with senseless scenes, weird dialogues, no character development, no logic, extravagant & over hyped & a big failure screeplay & content wise! I am not even including the topic of obsession, toxicity, misogyny, boz that is a plot of the character, you gotta accept it.
4. Right HERO in a WRONG movie. Ranbir Kapoor's performance, his screen presence is unbelievably unmatched! But i am disappointed by so little screen space given to the overhyped character of lord Bobby Deol. Wanted to see more of his story & character development. He maybe happy for getting work, but as audience we wanted to understand his character, which was quite disappointing bcz it didnt happen.
Songs and BGM is great, but at the same time, it is annoying in few scenes, the BGM is too loud & unnecessary that you would miss hearing the dialogues!
5. Climax and the post credit is actual "wtf" moment. Sandeep Reddy Vanga what a waste of money and such amazing starcast! Nonetheless, movie will earn at the box office bcz of the polarizing view & hype. Sticking to the performance strictly, its a Brilliant one man show. But movie as a whole is definitely skippable at the theatre. It Will be streamed on Netflix, watch it then!
Kaala Paani (2023)
Nothing less than Brilliance!
It has to be the best SERIES ever made in India!! Probably one of the best in the World! Unspeakable emotions are outpouring right now. Each and every cast, character, played by all these actors are on POINT. They way the series is naviagting through topics which were untouched is worth praising. No one is a Hero, no one is a Villain. Every character is real and grey and relatable! What a beautifully screenplay and it keeps you hooked throughout! Revolves around the idea of Darwain's Survival of the Fittest. It takes inspiration of COVID 19 but its a whole new life and different POV. Its a MUST WATCH!!
Love Again (2023)
Too Predictable & Boring!
Not a big fan of Celine Dion, i like her 1-2 songs and thats about it! But its audacious of the makers to relaunch her and maker her the main character of the film!! Celine's presence and her music all throughout is outrageous. Movie is pointless, Priyanka Chopra has done a fine job as an actor, but the plot suffocates the actors liberty to outperfrom.
Movie does have a soft, emotional touch, it really reaches to the heart but its a big miss overall. Small cameo of Nick Jonas was a dull moment, they had so much potentional to bring out the craziness but it is what it is. Sam Heughan is a fine actor, but even he seems little disconnected with the story line!
Jawan (2023)
Blessed to watch SRK perform!!
I am blessed to be born in SRK era, to see him perform, specially in a movie which is not a box office hit bez of his name alone but his contribution as an actor as well. So thank you SRK for being the King that you are! Keep ruling.
2. Its a full massy film, it has every flavour a cinema needs. And as a bonus, this one has a good story, a plot, kinda rare these days! Though Story is almost an amalgamation of so many hit films, but it doesnt matter. Thank you Atlee sir for spreading your magic and directing it beautifully! Also, a big THANK YOU for voicing out the needful!
3. Music is disappointing except 1-2 songs. BGM is typical of Anirudh sir, its amazing as always!
4. Its a big thumbsup for Jawan. You gotta see the suave, the dapper, swagger, coolest SRK. Incase you wanna skip in the theatre, it will be streaming on Netflix in after sometime. But dont wait.
Gadar 2 (2023)
A Decent Watch!
1. It will surely take you back down the memory lane but is it that Good? A definite NO.
2. Average Plot, Average sequel, average packaging, decent attempt but its more impactful in the theatre with 4K Screen & Dolby atmos.
3. Movie is all about Sunny Deol
's screen presence! He is the highlight, he is the film, his pitch is GADAR for me! The grownup Utkarsh Sharma is surprisingly good.
4. In a nutshell, its a decent film for massy audience, but nothing in comparison with Gadar1. So don't have high hopes, just enjoy. This movie will not give you anything to take back home to reminisce about it later for sure like the Prequel did.
OMG 2 (2023)
Brave Topic, Compelling & thought provoking!
1. First of all, a big applaud for the makers to touch upon a so called "taboo" subject(Giving no spoilers) in this country.
What a Brave Move!
2. Digging deep into Santan Dharam, movie dredges into the knowledge, history, science and leaves the audience with thought provoking & things to ponder upon.
3. A sensible but still light hearted, well scripted, well performed and well delivered film by main stream Bollywood after a long break.
4. Having said all that, it was utterly predictable, very much on the lines of its prequel, and thats the only low of this film.
In a nutshell, its a MUST WATCH for each one of us. A pro tip, go with your fam, only if you're comfortable watching Adult content with them. Oh wait, thats the point, we should be comfortable! IYKYK.
Barbie (2023)
Its Good but not Great!
I went in there with O expectations, but boy, it was cunning and audacious to say the least! It is one the most original movie made in terms of writing, filming, cinematography, in recent times to be made with a fake subject but very relevant plot!
Barbie speaks to alot of women and
MEN about feminism, patriarchy, consumerism and existentialism in its own weird, sometimes cringe but mostly funny way.
Full Marks for Casting. Top to toe perfect casting for Barbie and Ken. But movié is boring in the beginning and too preachy otherwise.
Totally skippable in the theatres. Its not worth the hype tbh.
Oppenheimer (2023)
Its not a Bomb, its an Explosion!
I don't know how to put it into words but Nolan just delivered a
MONUMENTAL MASTERPIECE.
Movie is not about the attacks on Hiroshima-Nagasaki, or the Bomb, it is all about the Character of Dr. J Robert Oppenheimer played by another genius Cillian Murphy. Oh man what dephths, Christopher brings into his characters, its extraordinary!
"Amateurs chase the sun and get burned. Power stays in the Shadow!"- Robert Junior is killing it!!
Being an oscar worthy film and with the whole cast, is fine and all, but this one is by far the most well written, flawless, or say its simply Christopher Nolan's Magnum Opus!
Vikram Vedha (2022)
A whistle podu performance!
1. What an OUTSTANDING performance by
both the lead actors Hrithik Roshan & Saif
Ali Khan. Kudos to them!
2. Good story, average screenplay,
bit slow paced but since its a
thriller it will keep you hooked till
the very end.
3. Killer BGM, one scene had
super bad VfX ngl, average music
but what amazing action scenes!!
4. Swag and acting is whistle podu
worthy!! The way cinematography is
done to capture slo-mo action
sequence of Vikram & Vedha can serve
as a lesson for budding film makers.
Definitely a theatre worthy watch!
5. In a nutshell, its a solid yes from
me!! Not too amazing, nothing close to
bad either. It oscillates somewhwere
between very good and above average
on the scale.
Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (2022)
Little show, overhyped.
1. Hatsoff to the vision of @ayan_mukerii of
Astraverse. But but but......what a weak plot for
the starters! Inshort, average screenplay.
Anyway, kudos to Bollywood for even trying.
Top romance, cringe worthy dialogues!
3. Hated how it started, hated how it ended.
Leaves you with breathtaking visuals & scenes
but all in fragments. I had goosebumps in few
scenes!
4. At some point you would want them to wrap it
up fast, there is no clarity of the story,
protagonist or antagonist, movie lifts up bez of
the overdoing of CGI. I might as well say,
average acting by all of them.
5. Strictly a one time watch, and i just
wanna say, its not a movie, its an
Experience, more or less a laser show but
worth taking risk! Definitely not something
you would wanna boycott for superficial
reasons. Go for it, if you have time.
Radhe Shyam (2022)
Beautiful yet underwhelming!
When they started the film, plot seemed to be about age old Indian Astrology and Prabhas was called the "Eintsein of Palmstry" which is very funny because he didnt believe his Guru/Master's philosophy regarding Palmstry. This started like it has something to do with Astrology, but it turned out to be a love story, both Pooja & Prabhas look perfect on screen, bit of chemistry is also visible, but somehow they failed to impart emotions of both love & pain in the film. Its a period drama, but they have shown a life of Mahraja in Europe which is funny. The worst part of the film is the climax, where the VFX is terrible, and the transitions are disaster, there is absolutely no scene refrence to the major plot of the film, that did he escape his death given such a tough situation, and what was the Gurujis role uncalled for? Specially in the end when he was praying and he saw prabhas dying. Makers actually didnt put enough thought in the making than did it in the selling. Poor cinematic experience but beautiful view.
Fleabag (2016)
Don't Force yourself to like this!!
I was recommended this one by very talented friend of mine from the industry, and i thought it must be so good. I went onto see the rating and damn it was so good. But after watching 3 episodes(had to force myself) i can say its a piece of GARBAGE!! Female lead but what rubbish character, mean and not at all funny!!! If sex and being horny is funny...have it.
The Batman (2022)
Almost There...!
First half of the film is stretched too much, its super slow, one might feel sleepy there, need a bit of editing in this part but post intervals, its on fire!! Robert Pattinson makes The Batman look super cool, he is awesome in that role but for Bruce Wayne, he is not so charming, didnt work for at all. Paulo Dano is amazing as the Riddler and Zoe is again a good casting for Selina Kyle. Cinematography is on point, movie is dark, gloomy, and gritty. Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight is by far the best Batman from the series, and this one is fairly good enough, almost there! Its not a WOW watch but a good one indeed.
And terrible Post Credit by DC!!
Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022)
Overhyped & Underperformed!!
I love Sanjay Leela Bhansali but it doesnt mean we have to see same Set, same lighting, same dance moves, same morbid atmosphere in every movie, every single time!
Can't comment on the plot, bcz it someone's life story but what a terrible acting. A cinema is capacious, it is more than the story. Alia was trying to fit in but is doing nothing except coarse voice modulation and spitting out poorly written dialgoues. So many elements went wrong in the movie from editing, screen play to background score. They had such a strong plot, but they failed at bringing out the emotions through their cinematic frames, i mean they have the worst scene transitions ever! Its a massy film with UA certificate, so obvioulsy they cant go overboard with sensitive issues like prostitution but they have barely touched the dark reality, except in the last 30'mnts of the film, mostly after Jim Sharb's entry, and thank god for that.
Its a total time waste, if you watch a film for sheer entertainment, then it can be subjective but if you watch cinema for the love of this art form, you should definitely give it a pass.
The Tashkent Files (2019)
Every Indian Should Watch This!
To the point film, with thorough research! Its sad the we have forgotten Shashtri Ji, by this movie, many will question themselves, the govt, the historians & everyone who was part of this systematic ploy. Watch this movie, to seek the truth!
365 dni (2020)
No Story!
When the movie starts you will feel like its much more than sexual fantasy drama, but it is only that. And not even that part is engaging enough to keep you on board. Absolutely no reason why it should be called a movie, it had no plot, no drama, no action. Only nudity!
Bulbbul (2020)
Beautiful & Strong Narrative!
Its not a horror film, but it surely is all about real life horrors. So beautifully picturised, giving fairytales a revengeful narrative. Female atrocities being the focus of the movie, with intelligent & slow transition of the time lines & emotions is breathtaking. The red, VFX, animation, makes the movie more impactful. And the lead Tripti Dimri is stunning in the movie. Its a mesmerising experience, one should not miss!
Angrezi Medium (2020)
Disappointment!
Its no where close to Hindi Medium, that was a gem of a movie. But this one is pure chaos. Having a such a great star cast, amazing story line, yet the failed, purely bcz of the narrative, & screenplay. Instead of making it funny, they made blunder & boring. Irrfan Khan is the soul of the movie. Radhika Madan, got lucky to be casted amongst such great actors, but what a disappointment!! Failing terribly! Irrfan sir pulled it whatever little he could, i wish he chooses better script next time. Also, things in the movie were happening with no logic whatsoever. Don't waste your time in this one. One of the worst film of 2020, just like the year!
Gisaengchung (2019)
Beyond Brilliant!
To think of such story is intelligent! This is a masterpiece, totally Oscar worthy! It has a strong message, that greed lands you nowhere. Also, everything and everyone is running after worldly pleasure, and no matter how much petty a rich man can feel for the poor, they always look upon them like som down trodden untouchable stinky filth. The highlight of the movie is its uncanny realistic background! This is every other south asian country, where class parity is so much!
The Sky Is Pink (2019)
So Overwhelmed!
This movie is based on a True Story, so you can't really judge the script, but in terms of performance, all the actors have done justice to their characters! This movie is tragic in most parts, but its very realistic and inspiring too. Priyanka & Farhan were really into the skin of the character. You might wanna carry Tissues to the theatres, bcz you are gonna need it. Really heart touching & movie with a soul.
