Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun (2020)
Kawaii, amazing, and brilliant: AidaIro's masterpiece that touched our hearts
I know everything about the toilet jokes and supernatural folklores in every corner of the world, this show makes me touched and loved because of the story and its characters, primarily the titular character and his daikon assistant. Some of the scenes make me fun while the other make me sad because of the backstories particularly the ones that Hanako-kun (Amane Yugi in past) had experienced. After finishing all of the episodes, I started to read the manga chapters in order to know the next storylines. The songs in the show are catchy including Akari Kito's song "Tiny Light" in which I played it many times on Spotify and then, I made a Filipino translation for it in order to make an easier understanding for my fellow friends.
I watched this anime every Friday morning during recess in my laptop at my school in Batangas and then, I would re-watch it again on my house in cable television through Animax channel every evening. Also, it became my favorite anime for this year and it is now listed on my favorites. As of now, I still followed the story and despite the pandemic, I would still relate to this show especially my fellow Filipino otakus love to watch it.
Tonikaku Kawaii (2020)
Tonikaku Kawaii: One of the most "nakaka-kilig" anime
Kenjiro Hata's another rom-com anime makes a huge following in the Philippine soil, primarily because of its kilig romantic themes that would make the viewers inspire of making hugot lines and references. For me, I have the same feeling but I immediately loved this show.
The vocal performances of Junya Enoki and Akari Kito as the husband-and-wife Nasa-kun and Tsukasa-chan are so amazing and brilliant. It is so romantic and thrilling to the heart, similar to the Philippine romance films including "May Minamahal" (1993), "Basta't Kasama Kita" (1995), and "Labs Kita, Okey Ka Lang" (1998) and teleseryes like "Got To Believe" (2012) and "Forevermore" (2016).
Tonikaku Kawaii would become one of the contenders for the Best Romance Anime for the year 2020.
Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san (2018)
Romantic but Hilarious: The kilig moments from Soichiro Yamamoto's sensational magnum opus
Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san (English: Skilled Teaser Takagi-san) is widely recognized as the "magnum opus" or masterpiece by the notable mangaka Soichiro Yamamoto who has a smart idea to create a story about a teenage girl named Takagi-san teases and pranks a boy which is her seatmate and close friend named Nishikata. Nishikata is known for devising a plan for Takagi-san with the use of pranks whether he would win or lose but unfortunately, he lost. Due to this, the rule of their games is "If you blush, you lose" which has been a running gag of the show. The show is actually interesting along with the trio of girls named Mina, Yukari, and Sanae who are just doing something to their classmates or Nishikata and Takagi-san. Most of the episodes are definitely hilarious with some parts that are "nakaka-kilig" or "romantic". The anime couple Nishikata and Takagi-san is more similar to the KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla), JaDine (Nadine Lustre and James Reid), and LizQuen (Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano) where they are considered widely popular by the fans.
Anyway, this show has generated a huge number of followers not only from Japan but also in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines. The Philippines has been an "anime capital of Southeast Asia" due to the country's endless appreciation to anime and Japanese culture. Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san continues to be a sensation in Japan as well as in the Philippines.
I praised the animation, the story, the characters, and the development of the characters' personalities in which this anime continues to be a great suggestion to watch to the community of anime lovers.
