Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
Wakanda forever? More like goes on forever
Really wanted to enjoy this film and I did, but would have enjoyed it a lot more if at least 30 minutes had been shaved from the run time. Don't get me wrong the performances by all of the cast were great, the special effects were outstanding, but the film really dragged on at times.
The touching way that the passing of Chadwick Boseman was handled was absolutely perfect and clearly meant the world to the cast.
Setting up for future occurrences in the mcu seemed at times to take precedence over plot with the introduction of both ironheart and prince Namor (loved the casual use of the word MUTANT)
But for the love of the cinema goers of the world think about the runtime!!!
Stranger Things: Chapter Four: Dear Billy (2022)
Superb
By far the best episode in the entire run of Stranger Things. I won't go into too much detail but Sadie Sink deserves all of the plaudits that will rightly come her way. I would have given the episode a score of 11 if I could.
To Be Someone (2020)
To be no one
Quite frankly the worst film I've ever seen, and I watched Cats. The acting is laughable at best and the green screen for the car driving scenes looks like it was done on a zx spectrum.
The true shame is I wanted to enjoy a bit of quadrophonic related nostalgia. This isn't it.
Ojing-eo geim: Kkanbu (2021)
Gut wrenching
This is by far the most emotional and gut wrenching episode of anything I've seen in years. The performances are absolutely second to none. Absolute wreck by the end of it.
Time (2021)
Great Drama
Truly one of the greatest British dramas for years. Both Sean Bean and Stephen Graham deserve all of the plaudits which will come their way. The support cast is one of the strongest I've seen in a long time, & Jimmy McGovern writes yet again with both grit and empathy.
The Walking Dead: Here's Negan (2021)
Wow
By far the best episode for years. JDM and his wife are phenomenal.
The New Mutants (2020)
Surprisingly good
Thoroughly enjoyed the film. Thought all 5 of the mutants carried their roles well. It is a shame that it looks like they won't be able to carry the story on to the originally planned trilogy
Batman: Hush (2019)
Why?
Waited so long for this movie as Hush is one of my Favourite Batman stories only for the film makers to completely destroy it by changing the is of the titular character. Who they made it makes absolutely no sense as opposed to the original book version. So disappointed with this
Doctor Who: Ascension of the Cybermen (2020)
Wow
Great episode, far superior to any of the others this season, the Cybermen are at their terrifying best
Doctor Who: Praxeus (2020)
Why
The episode started out great but turned into ANOTHER lecture on plastic in our oceans. Completely spoiled what was a promising episode
The Gentlemen (2019)
Back to his best
Guy Ritchie is back to his ls2sb and Snatch best. Great performances all round but Hugh Grant gives his career best. Can't wait to watch it again
The Irishman (2019)
An absolute gem
Yes the film is very long but it is an absolute pleasure to watch. The chance to see the powerhouses of De Niro, Pacino , Pesci , & Keitel directed by the master Scorsese for what will be probably the final time doesn't disappoint. The supporting cast too are fantastic
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Too many memories
Can't remember the last time I thoroughly enjoyed a film this much. The performances are superb across the board. Yes the film does gloss over the darker side of Freddie, but what it does do is bring back fantastic memories of " four misfits who don't belong together " creating some of the greatest music ever.
The recreation of the iconic Live Aid performance is breathtaking in its accuracy.
Think I may have to return to the cinema again!
The Meg (2018)
Pleasantly surprised
Thoroughly enjoyed a couple of hours of pure escapism. Statham carried the lead very well, plenty of room for a sequel too. Can anyone count?
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Dull
Never has a film looked so good only to have very little actually happen on screen. A definitive example of style over substance
