The Mitchells vs the Machines (2021)
Not bad
I quite enjoyed the movie. The story is good (if a bit of a cliché). There is some decent humour in there that adults will appreciate also. The animation is okay, it's a strange mix of 3D and 2D which does actually work quite well most of the time. I find this a lot with many Netflix productions, they always seem to be produced slightly 'on the cheap'.
The Vigil (2019)
Disappointed
I waited years to be able to watch this movie. I had high hopes of being as good (if not better) than The Exorcist. I have to say I was extremely disappointed. The acting was fine but the film was boring and the effects weren't very good. When the demon was revealed I wasn't very impressed or scared. They also seemed to replay the same footage of the demon being revealed more than once which made the problem even worse. You can tell that the movie was done on a tight budget.
The Irregulars (2021)
Rubbish
I couldn't finish a full episode of this show...can't get past the Dubstep music scores in Victorian London. I think the show must be aimed at teenagers, if it is aimed at adults then it is a massive fail! I only gave two stars because the settings were quite well done. I'd say if you are over 16 you should avoid.
Unsolved (2018)
Excellent Acting & Production
I loved this show! As a big fan of Biggie & Tupac I honestly didn't imagine it would work for me.
I couldn't have been more wrong! The acting was brilliant and the production was top notch.
I love the way that the story was told in 3 different time zones, this worked really well.
The Tupac & Biggie characters were uncanny!...and this is coming from a big fan who's spent many'a hour listening to their tracks and watching their music videos.
The only thing I can fault is that they couldn't use their real tracks in the show...I'm guessing they had trouble getting copyright permission given who the show points the fingers at for the deaths of the artists Tupac & Biggie lol
Really top notch stuff! Even if you aren't a rap fan it's still worth a watch.
The Man in the High Castle (2015)
'Great Speculations!'
I love the storyline of this show. I've often wondered what the world would be like if the war ended differently. They really pulled this off with very impressive production, scripts and cast.
The Great (2020)
Comedy?!!!
This is a comedy?! Seriously?!
In the first episode I saw a Bear get shot in cold blood (all be it a very poor attempt at an animatronic Bear) and also a young woman get punched in the stomach by her husband (I turned off at this point).
How this can be classed as a comedy beggars beyond belief...don't get me wrong...I'm not mad on being 'pc'. I just expected to watch this show and have a bit of a laugh, instead I'm watching this young lady being cruelly treated by her so called husband.
There were slight attempts at humour but these attempts were very lazy...relying on obseneties and juvenile violence.
I won't be watching again.
Tin Star (2017)
Don't bother after series 1
I quite enjoyed the first series even though it was a bit far fetched. I liked Tim Roth's character and found the series entertaining.
Series 2 though was terrible and series 3 even more so! I'm not going to comment on series 2 as I watched it a while ago and to be honest it was forgettable. I'm currently watching series 3 and have got to make a comment on how bad it is. It is truly one of the worst shows that I have ever watched. It rolls from cliché to cliché. The characters are not believable (at all). Honestly there is just no effort from the writers to make it believable, it's as if there are no laws in Liverpool....civilians just walking around the city casually with guns and shooting people in public places without consequence.
Honestly...don't bother...there are so many MUCH better dramas out there. I only gave the show a 4 because the first series was half decent.
Red Dragon (2002)
Awful
Terrible film! Clichéd, badly scripted. Not impressed at all! How this has managed to get a higher score than its predecessor 'Hannibal' I DO NOT know.
Save Me (2018)
Gripping Drama
I really don't understand where the bad reviews for this have come from.
I found it very well written and extremely gripping... I binged on it in one night (that says a lot!)
Once I'd finished watching an episode it left me hungry for more... EACH TIME!
I'd highly recommend this to anyone who isn't too easily grossed out emotionally.
Kudos to Lennie James for a job well done!
The Conjuring (2013)
Chilling horror
I was really impressed with this movie, in fact it's one of my favourite horrors. I love good demon movies but they are rarely produced effectively, this in my opinion definitely is! It's got all the suspense required and is not too predictable. Also It builds nicely into a massive crescendo.
The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015)
Awful!
Terrible film! So much potential to be a really effective horror but after the first few scenes not much really happens throughout the picture. There is a really unconvincing and weird 'possession' scene (which was acted terribly I thought) but other than that, it's more of a drama than a horror.
Don't waste your time if you like demon/witch horror films!
Beetlejuice (1988)
All time faves
Fantastic film! One of my all time faves. Michael Keaton plays a blinder in it.
Batman Forever (1995)
I'm confused
I'm not sure why this film has got such a low rating, personally this is one of my favourite Batman films. It has a fantastic cast and is full of action. Plus I love the Seal song at the end!
Temple (2019)
Not impressed
I've only watched two episodes and to be honest I don't think I am going to push myself to watch anymore. I've found it un-engaging and quite frankly boring.
9-1-1 (2018)
Very emotive
I really like this show! Almost every episode brings a tear to my eye at one point or another, it manages this without being cheesy which I applaud.
Some of the incidents are so random which I love..the writers must have a blast writing this show.
S.W.A.T. (2017)
Entertaining but cheesy
The show is watchable and does keep me entertained but the level of cheesyness does annoy me...especially the cheesy title sequence and the character Luca! He reminds me of an embarrassing uncle trying to be 'cool'.
SEAL Team (2017)
Excellent
One of my favourite shows on TV. I love the amount of detail, also the ops manoeuvres and tactics seem very 'real to life'. Not that I have any experience in the field... I wish I did!
I heard that the program might be being dropped by it's network, I hope this isn't true!!!
Deep State (2018)
Improvement
I liked the first series but series two is definitely way better! Looking forward to series three.
Rambo: Last Blood (2019)
Pleasently Surprised
I must admit I wasn't expecting much from this movie but I was really impressed! The storyline and plot were good and there was plenty of action. Gory action!
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Overrated
I don't think the film needed to be as long it was, it lost me at times. I'm also not impressed with the Bruce Lee / Brad Pitt fight scene, Bruce Lee was portrayed as being extremely arrogant which is just not accurate at all and to be honest I fealt it was a little bit racist and desecrated Mr Lee's memory. He suffered much racism whilst he was alive, I think the decent thing to have done would have been to paint him in a better (and more accurate light).
The end of the fim was good though...brutal!!!
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
:(
Not impressed! The choreography was terrible, no fluidity what so ever! The storyline was lacking also. Also the cheesy dialog was very off putting.
The best thing about the film were the dogs.
