Lucy and Desi (2022)
dissapointed
I loved the dramatic film "Being the Ricardos" and thought I'd check out this doc. I was surprised how boring it was. Mainly I Love Lucy clips and some less than compelling interviews. It sure seemed long for a film short on insights. I wouldn't really call this a doc, it's more of a biography.
Feels Good Man (2020)
poorly done
Documentaries are generally great peices of storytelling. As a doc, this one is so poorly done that halfway through all that you know is a guy created a cartoon character named Pepe The Frog. The attempt to tell a story is vague and meandering at best. I'm sure it's a good story and if anyone makes another doc on it I will watch because I want to learn what happened, but this semi-coherent doc fails miserably. If you already know about memes and 4Chan you'll enjoy this, otherwise you'll be left in the dark.
In & of Itself (2020)
performance art
If you are a fan of one person theatrical performances you won't want to miss this. It's not for everyone, but it takes the subject of IDENTITY and uses it as a backdrop for what I would call special and magical moments. You can see how much the audience is affected. Being in the audience live must be great, but the film does a fine job of telling the story.
Tread (2019)
Powerful documentary
If you are a documentary fan put this high on your list. It's an incredible story, but not one that can easily translate on screen. Director Paul Solet figured out how to tell the story, with copious interviews from conflicting sides that tell two totally different tales. You can decide for yourself who to believe, and then watch as all hell breaks loose.
