It's disappointing because it had a lot of potential and the wedding scene was interesting. Here in Mexico, poverty, wealth inequality, and elitism are huge problems and it looked like the movie was going to address those topics. But from there, none of the plot made any sense or was ever explained. This is a really dumb movie.

The movie was entertaining for a while and it was interesting to see what India and its culture are like (assuming that part of the movie was accurate). But the end of the movie ended up being so stupid. You watch for 2 hours wondering when they will finally reveal how the main character found a way to beat the system and overcome poverty... turns out he just murdered a guy and stole all his money. I was expecting something much more original and satisfying.

Given the subject matter and what a great director Spike Lee is, I expected this film to be really compelling. There was so much potential for interesting social commentary and for a fascinating look back at historical events. Instead it was absolute garbage. The plot was terrible and made no sense. You've got a character that was supposedly born in 1975 that for some reason is still 20 or so in 2020 when she should be 45 or so. And her mom, who supposedly was in her 20s or teens in 1975, now appears to be in her upper 30s. And then you've got 70 year old actors with white beards playing themselves as 20 year-olds in flashbacks to 1975, but they look the exact same in the scenes from 1975 and the scenes set at present day, when they're in their upper 60s or in their 70s.

The episodes that focused on his interactions with his friends and his family were solid. They were somewhat compelling and funny. The episodes that focused on his romantic relationships were soooooo boring. Those episodes weren't comedic at all, and they weren't compelling from a drama standpoint.
I'd give the episodes that focus on Rachel or Francesca a 0 and I'd give the other episodes about a 7.
Oh, and he supposedly went from speaking no Italian to being an expert in a couple of months? Totally stupid and ridiculous.
